Personality: Independent to a fault and mistrustful to the umpteenth degree, Yuri is not the easiest to get along with. She's cold to strangers and vicious to enemies. She is known for her discipline -- her no-nonsense manner that allowed her to reach the position that she holds today. Her time is precious, and by default, you are not worth her time.

To those she holds dear, she's loyal. She's a wretched conversationalist -- not because she has a particular dislike towards conversation (although that is partly true), but because she's inept when it comes to socializing. She's a leader, and though it is difficult for her to express her compassion, know that she has a strong sense of morality and an unflinching disregard towards criminals. If you can bear her short temper, her snappy attitude, her intolerance for weakness (in mind, spirit, and body) and her clumsiness towards socializing, then you have a reliable and worthy companion. She might even invite you into her garden -- her love, pride and joy.

In fantasy roleplays, Yuri holds a warrior's position (a knight, a guardian, a soldier, a bounty hunter, etc.). She also has an affinity towards herbal magic, though her livelihood and soul resides with winter. It's a miraculous and rare gift -- the ability to coax life from the throes of winter. Yuri's magical ability is still that of a novice, however, and requires a teacher or magician to help hone this skill.

HISTORY;

Yuri is the only daughter of a failed marriage. Her mother was an painter, a free spirit and a girl, through and through. Her father was a university professor of Classics and History. He was the person who gave Yuri her namesake -- Hjordis, "sword maiden," the name of Sigmund's Wife in Norse mythology. Yuri blames her father for a childhood of constant mispronunciations.

Yuri was twelve when her parents finally filed for a divorce. Custody was given to her mother, who was as unprepared for rearing a rebellious, stern-faced teenager as much as she'd been unprepared for her pregnancy. As such, Yuri ended up fending for herself at a young age, tending to her mother (and her mother's addiction to recreational drugs), dealing with paperwork and money issues (which there'd been a lot of), and generally acting as the adult of the household. Her visits to her father's house were ones of great disconnect. Her father had always been a distant figure; he remarried a year after the divorce and prioritized his new family above his old. Yuri's memories of him are ones full of the smell of half-smoked cigarettes and stone-cold coffee.

She got out of the house as soon as she was able. Eighteen and jobless, she hiked it to New York where she was accepted into school. She later became a police officer, then an agent of the FBI. She's never looked back sense.
