Madison is my most trusted companion who shadows me everywhere I go. She offers me quiet advice, freely engages in plenty of small talk, showers me with true affection and warmth, and she has assumed the role of being the little sister I never had. I found Madison wandering on the Darkside near a village I was stationed at and I took her in, nurtured her, and in return, she rewarded me with her companionship and confided in me her story.
On her home world, Princess Madison Sparrow ascended to the throne after her mother suddenly passed away. Shortly after her coronation, a conflict broke out with a neighboring kingdom and during a parlay, their king opened up old wounds between their two realms, accused Queen Madison's throne of illegally annexing a vast tract of his land and subjugating his people many ages before. He vowed retribution and demanded the return of all his rightful land, or have it taken back by force if necessary. His claim was audacious, it entailed nearly a third of Madison's realm, most of it rich farm land and all the water rights of the large river that bordered their countries. Madison and her advisers successfully demonstrated that there was no documentary evidence in the historical records of either kingdom, the king's claims were impossible to substantiate and that they were highly improbable. That argument backfired, fanned the flames of hostility, caused the negotiations to fail and resulted in an open war.
Madison's army, led by her charge, successfully repelled the opposing army, captured many prisoners including the king. Madison's advisors compelled her to force the king to stand trial before her court to answer for his crimes and accept the terms of his surrender. Once brought before the throne, it soon became evident that Madison's battle victory had been a trap to entangle her in a contest of wits and intrigue. The king's advisers believed that Madison was too young and inexperienced to compete in the political arena, and were quite confident thay would win their cause in her court. The king refused the terms of his surrender before Madison's throne. By the power of his charismatic personality he wrested control of the floor and delivered an oratory before her people that was laden with smooth but vicious slanders, clever lies and convincing accusations against Madison and her predecessors. He promised continued hostilities in the guise of self defense, claimed that Madison was the aggressor, sued for justice, and skillfully manipulated the politics in his favor. As he prepared to storm out of Madison's court unchallenged, with an air of self-righteous indignation and wounded dignity, he made his most insidious and evil demand. He would only agree to a surrender, negotiate a peace and cease all hostilities and claims if Madison would agree to a marriage. It was the masterstroke of his plan, a marriage would provide offspring and his heirs would enthrone both kingdoms. To the shock of her ministers and advisers, she agreed, such was her desire to secure peace in her kingdom. The population of Madison's realm readily accepted the idea of a royal wedding instead of a prolonged war and elaborate plans were made for a grand celebration without much thought to the repercussions of such a union.
On the night before her royal wedding, her chief adviser and best friend awakened her at midnight to warn her that her life was is immediate peril and that she needed to escape. There was a powerful faction within her court who loudly opposed Madison and the marriage and agitated against the court to resume the war. When that option was denied by Madison, they secretly conspired to overthrow her through treachery. The conspirators sent a seductress to the opposing king's bedchamber that very night and she killed him in his bed. The spy left damning evidence behind, filmy and seductive nightclothes given to Madison as wedding gifts were stolen from her bedchambers, torn and left in his bed and smeared with his blood. Madison's personal dirk had been used in the murder, thrust deep into his chest. thus clearly framing Madison for both murder and for infidelity before her marriage. Madison's friend had uncovered the plot shortly after the king was killed, but the damage was irreparable, Madison's own palace guards were on there way to arrest her for murder. Madison and her friend escaped through secret underground tunnels to a place where a small craft had been prepared for her escape to a neutral world. That is how Madison came to Subeta.
Madison begged to live a life of seclusion, away from notoriety and public life, she wanted to spend time in contemplation, study and prayer, alone with her thoughts and emotions. So a small camp was set up in the Northern Forests of Darkside where she could live a simple life of reading, writing in her journals, and worshiping her Maker. By a secret arrangement with allies on Subeta, Madison's royal belongings and records were spirited away and discretely stored in a vault in Centropolis. As for her daily needs, Madison was adept at providing for herself by gathering fruits, nuts and seeds, and she was skilled at hunting birds and small animals with her bow.
Madison had not planned on being trapped and captured by GeneVision, a division of Blackmoon Industries for the purpose of genetic research. Madison skillfully escaped from her captors but her small camp had been wrecked and ransacked, leaving nothing worthwhile or useful behind. Winter was fast approaching so Madison headed south across the Darkside, trod out of the forest, and eventually stumbled into the small village where I had a small medical clinic. I adopted Madison without knowing anything about her except that, despite the terrible circumstances I found her in, she was so sweet-natured, kind and loving. I had fallen in love with her and felt I needed her friendship as much as she needed mine. I fought a legal battle to have her recognized by the Subetan Central Government as a Free Creature rather then a pet, a word we both abhor. She has since been officially designated as my adopted sister.
Madison is shorter then me, perhaps 3'- 10", bipedal, although under stressful or dangerous situations, she can morph slightly and take on a more quadrupedal form. She is brown dorsally, and tan ventrally. In her bipedal form, she has a shapely little figure and can wear some human clothing if 'tailored' to accommodate her large tail. But, because her fur is quite thick, she is content to wear little or nothing, having the mindset that a fur-bearing person is not naked unless shaved, a truth we should all remember. However, in a showy swim suit, or in a low-cut ballroom gown, Madison demonstrates a very alluring presence and attracts the attention of males of many species, all vying for a dance, a squeeze, a kiss or perhaps something more. Eager, pretty and affectionate, Maddy has had many excellent prospects, but she has taken a fancy to another member of my family, Louis Miles, an extremely talented, yet impoverished traditional jazz horn player from New Orleans who loves her devotedly. If things continue to warm up with their courtship, it looks like I may have to quickly find a wedding coordinator on Subeta who knows how to put on a real royal wedding.
