Hello! My name is Thymes, and I was adopted by Cannibalicious on May 5, 2010. We go together very well since she is studying to become a Chef and I am an herb-maniac. I love all kinds of herbs with their various and special flavors. Rosemary has it's warm, woody flavor. Bay leaves with their savory flavor. Mint and it's cool, refreshing flavor. The list goes on and on. My personal favorite though is Thyme!A Greek word of Courage, "Thymus"Thyme is a very important spice and can be used as an antiseptic. When boiled, thyme can be gargled and used to reduce inflammation of the throat. It can also be dripped onto wounds or other infections and used to prevent infection, sepsis, and putrefaction. Below are some more medical ways thyme was used.Burning thyme: Wards away stinging insects.Growing a patch of thyme: Brings fairies in to rest in that patch.A pillow made of thyme: Cures epilepsy and melancholy.Beer and thyme soup: Cures shyness.Thyme tea: Reduces nightmaresMost commonly, now, thyme is used as an herb in various foods. Thyme makes an appearance in almost every dish when it comes to Western and Middle Eastern cuisine. It has a very agreeable flavor and is used in a traditional bouquet garni (marjoram, parsley, and bay also make their appearance).
