Nigh is a bringer of the end, although when the end is and how he will bring it is very much up for debate. No one’s even sure the end of what per say, just that he is bringing it, and it shall come.

It is said that in the oldest times, well beyond written word, Nigh inherited the job from a being that didn’t actually want it, and being the shrewd creature that he is, decided it might be worth his while. Fortunately for the world at large he has never been a particularly hard working man and grew very fond of the trappings of people and all their temptations and has put off bringing It until he becomes bored and decides it just isn’t worth it any more.

Scholars have never been able to figure out what Nigh actually is. There is some great debate over whether he is a demon or something else entirely, but any time anyone ever gets close to noting something down Nigh has a habit of putting an eraser to it. It has become a sort of hobby of his, erasing and otherwise notating history. He also likes to meander through the Earth’s religions, using his ability to warp the fine threads of reality to slip through chambers unseen and rifle through artifacts, read the contents of old texts and peek into the nooks and crannies of secret rooms. That is indeed how he came across Lauds, his favourite being in all of creation. Lauds is a hobby he simply can’t keep away from, and in his spare moments he likes to bring him things of the world that he thinks he may like. He also talks to him, constantly, despite the fact that Lauds cannot hear a word he says. He can however feel the vibration of his voice, and there is a certain comfort in that. Nothing is quite as sad as when Lauds falls asleep, and Nigh must return to his exploits for another day.
