In the peculiar continent of Escias, beneath all of the spiraling doubt within its settlers and their ancestors, there lives a belief that once two angels birthed and roamed the land they now call home. The only living proof were the immortals; those cursed the suffer an everlasting life as prey, and the angels; those born into servitude, raised on those same dull hopes that one day, they will transcend their drab captive lives and serve a good purpose for the world.
There were several temples among the continent, each housing their own fair share of angels who would wake at one time every morning, practice their studies, pray, become blessed, and sleep at the same time every night. There was little room in their lives for play or even curiosity of the world around them, though there were some stragglers that managed to duck under the radar of constant discipline.
Of those delinquents was Addison -- a young, able-bodied angel with a penchant for playing tricks and enveloping his favorite people in several layers of affection. True that over the years upon years of lacking success even the angels had come to question their purpose, but he found it within himself to keep away from cynicism, instead making the best out of his situation with only their lax rules to thank.
Unfortunately for him, however, it is between his playfulness and the infiltration of a certain demon that may very well be the straw that breaks the camels back, causing the angels to rebel. Only time would tell, but one thing remains sure; he would enjoy every single minute of it, without a doubt.
