What does it mean to play? In turn, what does it mean to entertain? To many little boys and girls in this world, true entertainment is a product of their own thoughts and feelings. They can pick up a toy, any toy- any inanimate plaything like a doll or action figure, and paint their stories with these objects. They play out scenarios, build secret worlds and kingdoms confined within their own minds.This is why Vanya loved toys. He felt he could bring a spring of life and joy to a child eyes. Toys, to Vanya, were much more than small disposable nick-nacks. They, to him, were providing children with the right tools to a creative life. And so he gruelled, day and night, littering his small hands with blisters to bring some happiness to those around him. Admirable behavior, a true modern day hero; and most certainly a hero to the children, but the adults around him would frown in discernment. They would tell him that toys were for children, and while his passion was a "nice hobby", he could do with finding a more well-paid and less laborious job. Though, strenuous as it were, he found much fulfillment in his creations. He would work ceaselessly, for hours, creating these microscopic masterpieces. Wooden toys, some half-finished, lined his windowsills like an abstract array of sculptures. He would carve these creations from wood that he found near Peka Glade, but sometimes he would visit Mathis to get some that strange Darkside ore to shape some creations and then again he also use that this shiny but flexible glass the Recycle Beast send him. Not too mention that he really love mixing some cloth from the Sacred land and this fluffy stuff from Shengui. Sometimes working for whole days at a time on one toy, he always take the time to make them perfect for the child and always place something unique on each of his creations. All of them are true masterpieces. Each piece he was proud of, and though letting go of the work he toiled on for so long was a difficult task, he knew it was necessary. But it was not just models and figures this toymaker would create - heavens no! He prided himself in his ability to create the surreal and wickedly wonderful, as well as the fluffy and cuddly.
He could be crafting murals to the neighborhood Felis, he would draw their tiny features, black beady eyes with dotted whites to represent the shine. His fingers, so nimble and dexterous, would dot just a pinch of glue to the hollow wooden cheeks of his toy felises, then use real feli whiskers he had found left just nearby to stick as the models own. Chai bears, stuffed with Malarchy's feathers and sewn back up like a surgery. Strange contraptions, like Ferris wheels that would spin eternally. You could set it to spin and it would keep going and going, at a completely consistent speed, long beyond your birth and death. Rocking Legeicas made out of real horse bone, with a small speaker in the throat that would neigh and whinny like you were riding the real thing. For these mechanisms, Vanya was loved by the young, and disregarded by the old. However, this meant nothing more to him than a knowing and trust of the intact nature of his inner child. And so he continued to make toys.
