You'll find a god in every golden cloister
A little flesh, a little history
I can feel an angel sliding up to me.

Temple Playset

Sinhala- the native language of the island Sri Lanka. -Wikipedia

Destiny is a strange thing. People can go on and on, preaching at length about it. But that's only what people say. Destiny itself might not exist at all.

Sinhala believed he had a destiny. He was discovered as a baby by monks and taken from his parents before he could imprint on them. They told him that he was important. That he was an avatar of a god. He heard nothing but this as he grew up. Cloistered away from the world, taught nothing but scripture and holy history.

But Sinhala, a name he was given by his real parents but never ever referred by, never felt complete. It was like there was an emptiness in his body that nothing at the temple could fulfill. He never had friends, for the young monks in training were not allowed near him no matter how much he wished them to be. His caretakers never looked him in the eyes, always bowing and scrapping. And no one listened. That was the worst of it. They never listened to his words, him, a supposed god, could have been a mute statue for all the worshiper's cared.

Sinhala started to believe that no one saw him as a person, a real living being. To them he might as well have been a statue, for while they prayed to him, they did not respect him. Veils and curtains kept him separated from the rest of humanity. He lived in a miserable daze, every hour like the last and all he could do was go through the motions.

There was only one time the young avatar ever felt alive and real. Sacred sex was a very rare but very true practice. Strangers, handsome and rich, wanting to be closer to their god, would come to Sinhala. They were supposed to behave in a very ritualized way, as this was a religious act. But the avatar would throw that away, making these strangers open up, and open up they did as they were only mortal. Sinhala made sure to ask questions about the world outside the temple walls during these opportunities, and the answers made him feel bold. He would then stare down at the bright city below the temple.

Eventually Sinhala gained enough courage one night and snuck out through a broken hole in the wall where no one guarded. The city called to him and he was amazed at what he found. The night life appealed to him and he knew that this was where he belonged. He wanted things, things he could never have in his temple home. Of his own free volition he walked the streets or participated in amateur nights at certain clubs, not really caring that these were considered a less than savory way to make money, he was just having fun. The money was spent freely, not having any real expenses to worry about. He was fond of music, clothes, makeup, and candy. He became familiar with the various clubs in the city and was more streetwise than he should be. But he would away make it back to the temple just before sunrise, hiding evidence of his nightly excursions, and just waiting until night fell again.

To the people in the city, Sinhala is a mystery, no one knows who he really is or where he comes from. The little avatar wants to keep it that way. The boy has managed to integrate himself with Urdu and his dark business. While the club owner knows more about the mysterious Sinhala than anyone else, the pink torrey is well trusted by the club owner and his underlings. Indeed, Sinhala has more loyalty to Urdu than to his own temple. And why not? Did not Nietzsche say "God is dead"? Why else would Sinhala's avatar powers be so weak and himself so sinful?

_____

Physically, Sinhala is a soft pink torrey, feminine in build and on the lower end of average height, giving him a youthful appearance. In the temple, he wears thick robes and heavy masks, thoroughly hiding his appearance. He finds it dehumanizing, but he can at least sleep during services without being caught. Lately he has pushed for his temple to be involved with more street level charities. At night is when he comes alive. Sinhala wears clothing that is both fashionable and able to show off his best assets, even if that includes cross-dressing. He wears long black robes to and from the temple, his street clothes being kept in public lockers. Makeup tends to be mostly focused on his eyes. His behavior is flirty, fun, and very bold, his streetwise senses usually noticeable. When he finds himself in danger, which happens often enough, he uses what little divine powers he has to slow down his attacker, allowing himself a chance to escape.
