!!! PROFILE UNDER CONSTRUCTION!!!
Hi! My name is Dottie I go by several other names, but I mainly go by Dottie. I have spent most of my life with my human mom. I was in the pound as a tiny kitten. I wanted out desperately so, I tried climbing the gate. I wound up getting stuck in between the 2 layers of fencing, I kept trying to get out, but the fence won. My mom saw me in there and alerted the staff immediately. When the man got me down he asked her the question that would forever change my life, "Would you like to hold her?" Mom said yes. When I was transferred from the man to my mom I immediately began to purr as loud as I possibly could. She then looked to her dad and began begging to bring my home. I was SO happy! Then to my dismay I watched them leave. A few minutes later they came back and got me, mom later explained that they didn't have enough money and were going home to get the checkbook, but on their way they found the checkbook and turned right back around and got me! Grandma was quite surprised to meet me, but everybody that meets me can't help but love me.
On November 18, 2013 at 16 years old mommy took me to the vet for what she thought was simply a cold (black eye boogers and a runny nose). The vet told mom that it was unfortunately not a cold, but in fact an extremely aggressive kind of cancer called, Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma (mouth cancer). I had a tumor under my tongue in a place that was inoperable. The vet said that there was nothing she could do, but spoil me and give me all kinds of love and do her best to keep me comfortable. Mom was devastated. We both carried on trying to be brave for each other, she didn't want me to see her cry although I knew how sad she was. I put on a brave face for her and did not let her see my pain. When I didn't have the strength anymore, I still tried to comfort mom by purring and snuggling. Eventually it became too hard for the both of us to continue being brave. I knew mom could tell that I was suffering and had finally come to terms with it when she came to me and held me sobbing. I purred to reassure her and let her know I understood. She stayed up all night holding me and pouring all of her love into me while I gave her all my love in return. I told her I was ready, but she still insisted on talking to the doctor first, who agreed that it was time to let me go. I passed away peacefully purring in my mom's arms at 10:40am on December 6, 2013.
