Title: Roxella of the Clay District
Name: Roxella
Nickname: Roxy
Race: Vulpin (Humanoid)
Age: 25
Abilities: Very good with math and organization, appears small and weaker - has surprise at her advantage the majority of the time, has great agility and stamina because of her size, can use her opponent's weight or skills against them, is capable of making swift and informed decisions
Weaknesses: Average physical strength, enemies can use her family and friends against her - particularly the children and Bel.
Personality: Roxella almost constantly has a small smile on her face, but you can read the meaning of the smile in her eyes - whether it be "the calm before the storm," genuine friendliness, or sadness. Roxy acts as a mother figure to the group, despite being the smallest of the adults and very young. She loves her makeshift family more than all of the combat in the world, and she absolutely adores the children - Rok being her protege and Sheng Li being Beltrano's. However, she also finds a borderline sadistic pleasure in combat, in surprising her opponents and using her abilities to her benefit. She originally met Beltrano when he hired her to be his bodyguard, and she gradually became the store manager/bouncer/bookkeeper. She is a protective figure, defending the store, the children, and Beltrano from anything or anyone that could possibly harm them. She is somewhat impatient and can be short-tempered, especially if things aren't going the way she expects them to. She hates it when other people make amess of her hard work. She is sometimes sent as a scavenger to historical sites, where she is not afraid of getting her hands dirty.
Appearance: Small in stature and figure, Roxella does not at all look as capable as she is. She has a medium-light skintone and bright aqua eyes, wearing her wavy light pink hair in a loose, long, and thick braid over her shoulder. She tends to wear clothing that will allow for a lot of movement - short skirts and versatile combat boots - should she ever need to defend the shop or its inhabitants. She wears a bit of eye shadow and lip stain, but is not overly made-up.
History: Because there are many different races in the world, many are incompatible to procreate with each other. Roxella is one of many children born specifically to be put up for adoption and join one of these families. Not all of them are good homes, however. Unwilling to put up with the abuse by her new family, Roxella ran away and grew up fending for herself in the streets of Aliere, the Dustcloud City. She learned to protect herself and found herself stealing to get by. One day, she tries to steal from Beltrano's antique shop, but he catches her in the act. Rather than have her arrested, he offers her a job - the store's bouncer. He gives her the item she attempted to steal to pawn off while she thinks it over. Roxella assumes it is some kind of trick, so she takes the item and goes. When she sees how much money she receives for pawning it off, she returns to his shop and accepts the job offer. Over the years, she realizes that the antique shop is a front for the illegal selling of human artifacts and technology, so her job as a bouncer seems suddenly more necessary. She falls in love with her unlikely boss, and finally begins to learn what a real family is supposed to be like... at least, sort of. Together, they decide to adopt children of their own - Sheng Li and later, Rok.

It had taken her years to convince Beltrano that they should have a child. What with the dangerous nature of their profession, selling illegal and dangerous human relics, they both knew that there was a chance that any child in their home could be threatened or harmed. But it was a menacing world they lived in, and Roxella firmly believed that any family will have to face its fair share of peril, even those with legitimate business models. Besides, Beltrano carefully screened his clients, and never brought them to their home.
She provided several arguments to win her case. With Beltrano constantly working, restoring and rebuilding artifacts and contraptions, the shop was quiet and lonely. In addition, she couldn't very well leave the shop unmanned as she ran errands. And didn't he want to leave some kind of legacy behind? Who would take over his shop after he retired?
In the end, however, it was her heartfelt and genuine plea - that no child should grow up in the streets as she did - that turned the tide. The man had finally looked up from his project for more than a quick glance and sighed in defeat.
She meant everything she said, of course, but the last one was the most sincere and raw of her reasons. If they could save just one child from a life in the alleys or a childhood in an abusive home, it would make her own childhood seem worth the pain and worth the hardships. And Bel, her aloof and disorganized love, could do nothing but agree with her.
And so, hand in hand - Roxella partially pulling the reluctant man alongside her - they found themselves on the steps of a very large, very loud orphanage. The building was constructed entirely of stone, a tall wrought-iron fence wrapped around the property. It was on the outskirts of Aliere, where there was less traffic and larger lots. She remembered it from her own childhood well, as much as she tried not to. She had spent her first years in this yard, playing in the dirt. It was the only time of her life before Bel where she had felt happiness, and only because she had been far too young to know anything else.
She took a deep breath and steeled herself, Beltrano's cerulean eyes focused on her, watching and waiting patiently. He gave her hand a reassuring squeeze, and with an exchange of tender smiles, they stepped inside together.
