"Do you ever get the feeling that somebody is watching you, yet, when you turn around you see nothing but an empty room? But that uneasy feeling, you were virtually positive that somebody was there. As the minutes pass that feeling slowly dwindles away until you sweep it under the rug and continue your previous task. Don't be ashamed, this is what most people do; it is far easier to accept that it was nothing then to find out. The thing you don't know is that there are many secrets to this world, my dear. Horrors you can scarcely imagine, most of them are more frightening then your worst nightmares, and others are so beyond that, your mind just couldn't comprehend if you wanted it to.I know you have a few questions for me, but please just allow me to continue. You see, I am what they call a Talamascan. I am part of a secret society set up to watch and keep track of all paranormal entities. We were founded in the 1st century, and shortly thereafter I was called to my duty. Ever since then I've kept detailed records on everything from ghosts and spirits to witches, lycans and vampires, and even a few others in between. You might be wondering if I myself am paranormal, I suppose there is something, different, about me; my body ages far more slowly than the people you know, but I'm not immortal. I'm very plain other then the fact that I'm over 2000 years old. I was here with the rise and fall of the Romans, when America was discovered and even in the same theater when Lincoln was shot.But back to the point, the main purpose of the Talamasca is to make sure the world of the paranormal and our world stay separate; to observe, but not to partake. I've witnessed many wrong-doings but it is not my job to step in, only to remain silent, hidden in the shadows, with my pen and paper. You are probably wondering what you are doing here, and why I'm disclosing you all of this. I have been extremely loyal to the Talamascan council for the past 2000 years, and my time has come to retire, as they now say, and live what little life I have in peace. I have called you here to pass on the honor to you, I know this might be a bit of a shock, but I trust you will do just fine.
