Name: Shui
(Meaning water in Chinese)
Age: 16 years of age
Personality: Generally drowsy/sleepy, child-like and mischievous . Likes to nap during the day and is more active at night particularly past 11 o'clock pm. Loves water particularly in areas with willow trees.
Background:
Abandoned as an infant by her birth parents, she was picked up by a traveling shrine maiden who brought her to her head priestess. Kore was taken in as a priestess in-training and was loved by all that knew her.
One day, as she was chasing a moth, Kore stumbled upon a small pond overshadowed by an enormous willow tree. She tucked herself underneath the tree and closed her eyes for only what seemed to be a minute. When she opened her eyes, it was night and the six year old child was frightened.
But then lights started to flicker on the surface of the pond; each was a soft, glowing pulse that gathered to form a child.
It was her! Only...different. The mirage's eyes were too bright and the shadows cast on its face was too stark to belong to a child. Its lips moved, as if speaking, but Kore couldn't hear. It was the last thing she saw before she fainted.
When she woke up, she was in a shrine room and the head priestess was smiling. She told Kore that she had been chosen by the goddess Winnow to serve as a daughter of Lune, their shrine goddess.
She was placed alone in a boat and sent of still dazed. She soon fell asleep, but the boat continued to drift along the waves' currents. When she woke up, it was once again night and she was just exiting a dense patch of fog.
The first thing she noticed was the floating island ahead of her, the second thing was that the boat was floating as well. She peered down over the edge of the boat, and saw several illuminated figures just like the mirage she had seen before except they were faceless.
Too young to question it, she was set down in front of an ethereal beast. Lune was a dragon--her long, furred body had to curl around itself just to fit the area.
With all the innocence of the young, Kore climbed out of the boat and reached up to touch the goddess. With that physical acceptance, Kore ceased to be Kore and was reborn as Shui, daughter of the moon.
