Jealousy's a phantom,
Something that was never, ever meant to find me
But now its pale green eyes have destroyed everything

You walk up to a group of children playing together. A little boy approaches you. "What can I help you with?" he asks. You explain you're looking for a girl named Norschtalen.
"Little Norsy? She's probably in her room, practicing her baby magic, ha!" The boy laughs and runs away to play with his brothers and sisters. The oldest siblings eye you carefully as you step into their house.

How it all started
Norsy was sitting in her room, surrounded by books. Magic: The Beginners Guide, How To Enchant Your Kitchen Supplies (borrowed from her mother), Three Easy Steps To Foretell The Future and let's not forget Witches And Wizards: Where Do They Come From?
Norschtalen's room was full of books, and almost all of them had a magic theme. She was always busy studying, trying to absorb new information about her magical skills... not that she had those. Which was the exact problem: Norschtalen was not magical.

Everyone knew Norsy was a bit different. She did not like to play with her brothers and sisters, in fact, most of the time they just bullied her. She looked completely different, as well. While everyone in her family had dark, thick, black hair, and very light blue eyes, Norsy was almost the complete opposite. Her eyes had a dark pink tone and her hair was as blue as a sapphire.
If you think about it, it's not that weird. Norschtalen's brothers and sisters weren't really her family. She had a different father. And being the youngest, this was never accepted. You see, Norsy's mom was a beautiful woman. So beautiful, it wasn't uncommon for her to get home late from too much attention of other men.
At one point, it went wrong. Norsy's mom went too far, and her husband couldn't take it anymore. Norsy's mom was pregnant from another man, and it was over.

While the whole family did their best to stay together, little Norsy was born. Born into a family full of witches and wizards. Norschtalen, apparently earning her fathers genes, was quickly cast out of the group. She ate alone, she played alone, she studied alone. A lot. She quickly grew jealous of her siblings, and came to the conclusion she wanted to become a witch, magical genes or not.

No matter what it would take.

Norschtalen will help you
"Have a nice day, mister." Norschtalen nodded at her customer, and went into the back of her tent. She took a deep breath and blew out all of the lit candles. Smoke filled the room.
It wasn't a good day for Norschtalen. In fact, now that she was thinking about it, when was the last good day? The last couple of years seemed like a blur, a sad and hopeless blur. Life was hard. A strong feeling of regret and anger washed over Norschtalen. She clenched her fists and tears started rolling down her cheeks. From out the corner of her tent, a snake started hissing and slithering towards her. Norschtalen did not look up until the snake was almost completely wrapped around her arm. "Hey there, Charlie." said Norschtalen. The snake responded with a hiss. Norschtalen gently stroked the snake.
"I know buddy, we need to practice our new act, huh?" Tears started welling up in Norsy's eyes. It was something she just had to face. Because she was getting less and less customers, the circus ringmaster had ordered her to come up with a new act. It had to be done. Either a new act, or she could pack her bags and leave.

But the circus was everything Norsy had. It was her way of reaching people. People would come to her little tent, just for fun, but they would leave with more than they could ever imagine. In this little tent, Norschtalen would talk to the people. Talk, learn about their life, their problems, their worries. And the people, while surprised it wasn't some sort of gimmick, would always leave satisfied and happy.

What they didn't know is that Norschtalen wasn't just a great talker - she was a great magician as well. She had learned the skill of wishing. After every session she would blow out all the candles in her tent, and make a wish. A wish for her customer. A wish for all the people that visited her. To better their lifes. To make it easier for them. To make them happy. Because that was her main goal, making people happy. And it worked. Because our once little Norschtalen, had become a witch. However, it was all for a very, very high price.

Life was hard. Money was hard to come by, being alone was hard, the feeling of abandonment was hard. But most of all, the regret. The terrible regret.

It was getting late. "Shall we go to bed, Charlie?" Norschtalen lit a small candle, to help her relax. It was a rough day, quite exhausting. A lot of her demons were haunting her again. Norschtalen sighed and climbed into bed. She closed her eyes. "Here's to hoping I fall asleep quickly, Charlie." Charlie hissed. Norschtalen exhaled. "Goodnight."

The pact
This feeling... it was so familiar. She had definitely felt this sensation many times before. Norschtalen's eyes widened as she realized what was happening. The dull sound of footsteps neared her.
"Please, please go away. I don't want to talk to you." Norschtalen put her hand over her chest. She was breathing heavily. "That's not the way you should talk to me, lady!" A horned creature bent over her. The smell of smoke filled the room. "Please, I'm begging you, let me go. We had our deal, I don't want to talk to you anymore." Norschtalen pleaded.
The creature laughed. "But Norsy, both you and I know you're not happy. You want to change it, don't you? You want to go back to how it was? Back to the past? Back to, say... when you didn't know how to practice magic?" He cackled. Norschtalen started to cry.
"I'm begging you to stop. P-please, I know you can't help me..." she sniveled. "Naw, Norsy, it's not like that. I can make everything go back this very instant. But I'm thirsty, you see? Very, very thirsty..."
Norschtalen shrieked. "Please, please don't do it..." she whispered through her tears. The creature shook his head. "You know the routine, darling." He smiled and licked his lips. Norschtalen let out a scream, and began to cry harder. "Make it stop! I'm BEGGING you, make it STOP!" She covered her ears with her hands. The pain was too much to bear. The creature let out an evil laugh, licking his lips and smacking loudly as if the air around him was delicious. His pale green eyes seemed to glow as everything turned dark.

With a shake, she woke up. Everything was blurry. She tried to get up, stumbling around, falling out of bed. Charlie slithered towards her, sizzling loudly. "Oh.. it's you, Charlie." Norschtalen rubbed her forehead. Hearing Charlie was comforting. She patted the snake on his head. "I had a nightmare again," she whispered. "He.. he was.. getting his pay." Norschtalen looked down at the floor. Charlie wrapped around her arm sympathetically. "Well.. that was that. There's nothing we can do. Shall we go get some breakfast?" Norschtalen got up and looked at the time. "Oh, and we should practice our new act, too." Charlie nodded slowly.
