Likes: Plastic bags, string, plastic ribbons, rubber bands, cardboard boxes, feather toys, crunchy leaves, and apparently steel and the smell of a blacksmith's forge, judging by how much he enjoys rubbing his scent glands on my fiance's partially finished blades, boots, and clothes at the end of the day.
Dislikes: Sudden movement and noises
Favorite toy: A small slug plushie that he carries around, in much the same manner that dogs do
While I cannot recall the exact date of his adoption, Sam joined our family in August of 2009 when my fiance and I saw him at a local PetSmart. I got in touch with the woman who was fostering him the very next day and brought him home the day after that.
Things...did not go smoothly, to put it lightly.Sam spent the first few weeks of his new life hiding in various spots in the bedroom, and even attempted to wedge himself in my fiance's boot at one point. We would, periodically, attempt to introduce him to our resident senior cat, Fiona, and there was much hissing and aggression and defensiveness. By the end of the first month, it was beginning to look like we might have to return Sam to the rescue group we had adopted him from.
Thankfully, patience won out. Now, a year later, Sam spends his days sunbathing and racing Fiona around the house when he isn't following me from room to room or sticking his nose in my face when I try to sleep.
