CRKKK. The jarring sound of soft human limbs making harsh contact with concrete and sidewalk debris caught the attention of several late-night shoppers, but not a one stopped to help the crumpled heap of a man. Perhaps it was the strong scent of alcohol that radiated out quite a distance away from his body or maybe the hateful, ugly look twisting at his face.

"--and stay out!" An incensed feminine voice rang out toward the drunken man from the doorway of a warmly lit building. Narrowed turquoise eyes peered out threateningly at the unwelcome bar patron from a deceptively delicate-looking face. The woman glared warily until the man, spitting mad that he had been thrown out and by a woman no less, staggered out of sight. Only then did she reenter the building - a bar, it seemed, named SUCK if the neat lettering in the window was to be trusted.

"Gimme a double," she ordered, seemingly to thin air. Two minutes later, a smooth glass was being pressed into her palm and the bittersweet taste of fine dark chocolate was sliding down her throat. She licked her lips with satisfaction as she finished the last of the thick syrup. "Mm... thanks," she smiled gratefully at the bartender who had supplied her with the drink.

The bartender shrugged, turning from wiping glasses to cast the bar owner a worried look. "Everythin' go alright with throwin' out that crazy sonuvabeast, Lisbet?" His voice was soft and low, a Southern accent drawing out his words gently.

Lisbet settled on an empty barstool, crossing her legs almost daintily, her voice taking on an innocent tone."I'm here, aren't I?" She laughed at the stern look the bartender sent her over the rim of a shot-glass. "Seriously, though, Vergil - I'm fine. I'm stronger than I look, you know that." Dark curls shifted across his forehead as the bartender shook his head in resignation at his employer's tenacity. "If you say so, boss."

"I do say so. 'Sides, some people just need to get it in their heads that alcohol is no excuse for stupidity." A beat. "The only excuse for stupidity is if there are mass amounts of sugar involved," she stated matter-of-factly, straightening the laces on her corset absently.

Abruptly, the blonde launched up from her seat, leapt up onto the bar counter (in the process scattering various glasses dangerously toward the edge), placed a hand on her hip, and addressed the mingling crowds. "Am I right, folks?"

The customers responded with resounding agreement despite the fact that they probably had no idea what Lisbet was referring to. The blonde smirked, her downy tail swishing contentedly behind her.

Vergil only sighed and tried valiantly not to look up his employer's skirt. To think that she was only sober person in the building.
