You wouldn't happen to have any crackers, would you?

8:30 AM, the door made a click as it was closed and locked. Finally! The woman had left for work and now the home was empty and safe. An orange tipped nose poked itself out of a small crevice beneath the couch in the living room, twitched twice, and disappeared. Not a minute later popped the robust wyllop, his rounded, wide-set ears lacking the normal fluff of his species. His back also lacked spikes, strangely enough. He rounded about and faced the spot which he had emerged from, appearing to be whispering to it. Another nose reluctantly poked out, followed by the slender body of a cream Chihiro. He was similar in certain ratlike features to the wyllop but he was much thinner and flinched and twitched often, in contrast to his confident cousin.

The pair of rodents scurried off along the wall, their tiny pink feet making hardly a whisper of noise. They had reached a doorway leading into a small kitchen and stopped as the wyllop glanced around the corner before moving along. The Chihiro whimpered and did the same, glancing behind him as well as around the corner and under every small shadowy area possibly concealing whatever he believed would attack without warning. He hurried to catch up with the wyllop, who was now climbing up a cabinet with the help of a box and a half opened drawer. It was obvious that he knew where he was going, having done this multiple times before. As he reached the marble countertop he gazed back down at his partner, who was more than halfway up.

"Come on, Squiggs! I'm starving!" He urged, leaning over the edge.

The smaller Squiggs hustled himself up and over to join the wyllop. "Uhm.. Okay. Let's go.. er- Trisket, what if the lady comes back today?" His voice was high and nervious.

Trisket sighed gustily and shook his head. "You ask me that every day, Squiggs. She won't come back, she's gone wherever she goes during the day- you know that."

The smaller rodent simply twitched and hurried again to catch up with Trisket, who was now ahead again and moving briskly towards a cabinet. He used his muzzle to open it and once he had, he inhaled deeply and sat back on his haunches, admiring the view.

"I love the smell of crackers in the morning."

Trisket's ears perked up at the sight of a fresh box of his favorite brand- then his nose wrinkled slightly when he saw the printed name.
"Triscuit is NOT how you spell my name. Honestly, if they were going to be leaving this stuff around for me to eat they ought to at least learn how to spell it. Squiggs, get the marker!"

When his cousin entered the cabinet he bore a silver and black marker with the word 'Permanent' in black letters. Trisket grabbed it and heaved the cap off with the help of Squiggs, then hoisted it over his shoulder as he scribbled out the last four letters which misspelled his name. He then used his marker to write 'ket' in thick black letters.

"Much better!" He stepped back and placed the marker on the ground to admire his work, then became distracted by the scent of the crackers inside of the box. "Now lets eat!"

Trisket leaped up to the edge of the box and opened up the seal, then chewed through the annoying plastic surrounding his treats. He sat there for a moment, his body half concealed in his crackery heaven and his hind-end hanging out over Squiggs. His partner nerviously pranced around, keeping watch in case the woman returned. Trisket rustled around in the box and sorted through his pick of crackers, only taking the perfectly made and still square ones, never the broken or chipped ones. Squiggs was turning to tell him to stop making such a racket when he noticed a shadow fall over the opening in the cabinet.

He grabbed onto Trisket's tail and tugged once.

Rustling.

He tugged again, "Trisket..." he whispered.

"Mrrf?" His friend didn't stop looking through the box.

This time he yanked his friend's tail and yelled, "TRISKET!"

The chubby wyllop toppled out with 3 crackers in his paws, then noticed the feli who was now gazing at the two with a hungry pair of eyes and an even hungrier set of fangs.

"Time to go, then!" He shot out of the cabinet door with Squiggs clinging to his tail for dear life and trying to catch his footing, the feli in hot pursuit.
Trisket tucked one cracker under his left arm and held the other two above his head, crumbs flying out behind him and into the face of his tail-clinging partner. He dashed forward on his hind legs as the couch came into view, Squiggs wailed as the feli slashed at him with its claws extended. His feet carried him through the hole just seconds before Squiggs could be feli-food. They both collapsed on the floor panting, hearts pounding at full capacity.

Trisket turned to his friend, still catching his breath. "Hey Squiggs?"

Squiggs, looking as though he was about to have a heart attack, looked at Trisket. "Wh- what?"

"Want a cracker?"
