Iscaa was born blind, but it never seemed to limit her in any way. From the beginning, she learned to overcome her disability quickly and was never very far behind her mother. She grew up with little trouble, and learned the ins and outs of the forest in no time; it's amazing how quickly one can learn the twists and turns when getting one wrong means running headfirst into a thick tree trunk.

At first, the other inhabitants in the forest were unsure of the blind bear cub. She had piercing, icy blue eyes that made the animals nervous. Iscaa's warm and lighthearted personality, however, quickly won the hearts of her neighbors, and the other animals in the forest grew to know Iscaa as the amiable little cub who would always take the time to smile and say hello when she heard them around her. The bear cub was incredibly outgoing, and soon made friends with all of the animals in the forest.

All, except one.

The vixen Vivian was jealous of the bear cub. You see, Vivian was very vain, and she was jealous of Iscaa beautiful eyes. Vivian herself had deep brown eyes, and before, she had thought them the most beautiful in the forest. The day Vivian saw Iscaa's glamorous blind eyes was the day Vivian developed a grudge against the cub. She wanted those beautiful eyes, and she wasn't going to rest until she got them.

---

It was a cool Autumn day when Iscaa finally met Vivian. Fallen leaves coated the ground, turning the forest into a beautiful scene.

"It's a beautiful sight, isn't it?"

Iscaa started, having not heard the sly vixen approach. "O-oh, well, I suppose it is. The forest feels wonderful, now," the bear offered.

"Oh, that's right! It's a pity you can't see the magnificent colors. It really is such a wonderful sight," Vivian remarked, a false note of sympathy dripping from her words.
