Princess Laure looked out of the window of the fancy black Mercedes of her parents, the car passed a fairground. The smell of the delicious greasy food entered the car, you could almost taste the popcorn in the air. The little princess listened to the mix of music with facination, bell music from the carousel, techno from the bumper cars, creepy music from the haunted house a few meters away. The carousel was what caught her attention, the bell music, the laughter of the children on the carousel, the excited screams of the children waiting in the queue. The beautifully painted horses, the gold and silver that covered the top of the carousel and the pillars.

"Sir Greggor can I please go on the carousel?"
"Of course not my little princess, it's not safe for you."
"Why wouldn't it be safe? Other children wouldn't hurt me!"
"No little princess, you are going to your ballet course, and then straight back to the palace."
Sir Greggor was used to it, little princess Laure wasn't happy in her golden cage and he pittied her. But taking the girl for a ride on the carousel wasn't worth being fired over.

The princess her life revolved around being prepared for the throne once it was her turn. She was private schooled at home, went to a high end classical ballet school, the countries best diction teacher trained her at home and she got piano classes...also at home. Home being a gigantic old palace, with bombastic rooms that would fit right into a history documentary. A cold and boring environment for a little girl without siblings or playmates. It almost sounds like the princess was a sad little child, but on the contrary. Little Laure learned to enjoy the few things she was allowed to do.

Laure her favourite thing to do was helping Lewis. Lewis took care of all the plants around the palace and he was often to be found in the greenhouse, surrounded by exotic flowers in bloom, majestic big plants from far away countries. The little girl helped him with various tasks in the greenhouse and together they decorated her living compartment full with fresh flowers.

But as much as the princess tried to pretend to be a normal girl, playing with dolls and plushies. Reading stories and watching Disney films. She would never be a normal girl, on formal events it was always very clear. No normal child got a personal hairdresser, custom made dresses out of the finest fabrics and beautiful jewellery, each with a price that would make a normal person pass out from shock. Laure her parents, the King and Queen and her grandmother the Queen Mother wanted the princess to be perfect, they wanted her to be drowned in luxurious things. They gave her jewels, they gave her dresses, handmade wooden dollhouses and teddy's from a famous toy factory. But all the little girl wanted was friends and a ride on the carousel.
