a hunter came across a celestial swan maiden and fell in love with her. he hid away her magic robe while she was bathing; without it, she could not return to the sky. the hunter took the maiden to his home, where she became his bride, and they had a child together.

one day, the child was playing in the attic and found one of their father’s old hunting packs. inside was a dazzling robe enweaved with stars. when he showed the beautiful robe to his mother, she put it on without hesitation and returned to the sky, leaving her child behind.

that child is now a man. in cygnus' quest to find his absent mother, he’s become an avid astronomer and skywatcher. due to his dysfunctional parentage, he has enormous trust and abandonment issues, and he's not had contact with his father in years.
