You enter a dark room, the only light coming from a broken window with tattered curtains. The room is empty from what you can tell. You brush the cobwebs out of your way and slowly make your way to the window, to check out the scenery of the harsh landscape in which the abandoned mansion you stand in lyes upon. A thick fog has made it's way across the land, so you turn back around to exit the room, hoping to find something more interesting.

You came across the mansion through an old map you discovered in a box a mysterious cloaked figure had given to you on your way to do your daily errands. The box was tiny, and only contained the map. At first you were unsure of what to do, but a small note on the back of the map had read

"Darkness consumes, fire spreads.
This is but a metaphor of my life. I am nothing now.
Within my beautiful home, lie my beautiful treasures.
The mean nothing to me now. Perhaps the one reading this can enjoy their beauty better now than I."

And now here you stand, in the middle of an abandoned mansion. It appears to be empty. Kids perhaps ransacked it long before. With a small sigh, you begin to cross the room, but your foot kicks something. You bend to pick it up. A small journal. Walking to the window again, you flip through the pages. The writing is similar to that on the back of the map. You head back to your car, and turn on the overhead light and begin to read.

A few pages of the journal are missing from the beginning, but nothing that will deter you from reading it. It seems old, dusty, and very warped from water. The words are still legible. You pick up where the journal begins.

of the species! Perhaps I will see more of them tomorrow!

DAY 4
With the discovery of the new bat species last night, or at least, I have led myself to believe they are undiscovered. With all my research of the amazing little critters, never have I read, seen or heard anything like these. They are massive, with a wingspan of WELL over 7 feet, like that of the Giant Flying Fox. They seem to be more carnivorous, and it makes me wonder why we, nor I have ever seen them before. Perhaps other chiroptologists have recently and it just hasn't made it our way yet. Off to caves!

later
I have begin to call these new bats "The Strange Bats", as they have some peculiar habits. Their eyesight seems to be better in the daylight
