Isobella has a minion!

"In love with the idea of love" was how Isobella was often described.

For as long as she could remember, she had been fascinated and enchanted with the notion of falling in love and living happily ever after. When she was little, she would reverently try on her mother's wedding dress and hold pretend ceremonies with her friends and dolls.

Her weddings were lavish all day affairs for an 11 year old as she was very meticulous in her preparation, from drawing fancy invitations to hanging up decorations. During the ceremony, she would prance around her room thanking her guests for attending and for their most generous gifts. High tea would be served too, along with slices of delicately crafted wedding cake, and the day would be concluded with songs and dancing.

As she grew up, her obsession with love continued to grow too. Although there were a few men in her life with whom she had courted, none quite measured up against her fantasies, much to the disdain of her parents.

By the time she was 27, hopes for a prince charming to come and sweep her off her feet were beginning to wane. All of her childhood friends were married and most either had children or were expecting their first. Whilst her mother continued to insist that she was being far too picky, Isobella was certain that she just hadn't met the right man yet and there was no point trying to make yourself fall in love with someone for the sake of it.

It was on one hot Summer's evening after a heated argument with her parents that she stormed out of the house to sit by the lake. They had issued her with an ultimatum that she either gets married before her 30th birthday or leaves home to join the local church. Heavy drops of rain began to fall as she paced around the lake and soon she was soaked to the bone, feeling more miserable than ever.

She knew the true reason behind her parents' urgency was due to ever rising costs of living; with four little brothers still at home, finances were tight. If she wasn't going to marry just any man, she needed to get out of her parents house and find a way to support herself.

As she mulled over her options it became clear to her that she should follow her heart. By utilising her creative talents and her natural knack for hosting an excellent party, she would set up shop as a wedding planner! What could be more perfect for someone who spends their days dreaming about lace dresses, imagining seating plans and experimenting with new flavours of cake batter?

After much persuasion, her parents agreed to loan her a small sum of money from their savings to start up her business. Initially business was slow, but as she provided such a good service word of mouth quickly spread and her reputation as a wedding planner blossomed. Plenty of excited couples now journey from neighbouring towns to seek her expertise and her calendar is full to the brim with bookings!

Isobella's parents no longer try to force her to wed and she's been able to repay the loan. Her clients often enquire about her own marriage, convinced she must be happily married to plan the perfect wedding time and again, and it is with a genuine smile and a happy heart that she replies "I'm still waiting for him to find me!".
