Sharpedos are usually distrusted and dreaded by humans and Pokémon alike. They can swim through the sea at speeds of up to 121 kilometers an hour, yet despite their physical strength, they have a very low stamina and cannot swim great distances. A sharpedo's teeth can chomp through metal and grow back quickly if broken off. Sharpedo are unruly creatures that also happen to be very territorial. They can and will destroy anything that enters their domain.

Looking up from his Pokédex, Shar could not help but think Why did my parents name me after this horrible thing? I'm nothing like it....except for that part about the sucky stamina. Sure, his parents were pokéfans, dedicated ones at that, but couldn't they have picked a better name? Shar didn't even look like a sharpedo, at least in his opinion (and many others'), and his emerald eyes would agree. The only thing that linked him to that beast was his jet black hair, hair so dark it held hints of navy in sunlight. Well, that and his birthmark. A small, penny-sized birthmark on his forehead. He often wondered if it appeared larger when he was a baby. Either way, it doesn't make sense. It's closer to a square than a star. Besides, Sharpedo is definately a better name than Snorunt Shar's older sister was just like him: cursed with a name that did not fit her. She did not like the cold; She needed to be hot all the time. She certainly did not like living with others. Most of all, she did not bring good luck to any house she entered. This was something Shar knew all too well.
Shar started school one year before the rest of the kids in his daycare. That being said, he was tall for his age, towering above all the other students in his grade, and quite a few in the grade above him. Because of this, all of the others were afraid of him.
