Kohbal always had a penchant for small magics, and so it was with great excitement that he attended the Academy of Wizardry in Alorra, a city south of Peka Glade heavily-populated by spellcasters. Six years of grueling schooling later, however, Kohbal barely pulled himself free as a barely-passable wizard. All the little charms that came so easily when he practiced on his own were, it turned out, extremely different from the heavy, ominous texts of the books at the Academy.

Still determined to find some way to fulfill his dream, Kohbal took to tagging along with adventuring groups, acting largely as untrained muscle who could help out in a pinch; while he wasn't doing anything particularly exciting, it came with the chance to meet spellcasters - none of whom could quite explain or help overcome his difficulty. Things came to a head, however, when a group he was traveling with was overrun by a pack of enemies, and when they came for him, Kohbal found himself suddenly manifesting very, very powerful fire magic. Kohbal managed to escape, though not without injury both from his attackers and his inexperience with his magic. He fled to a nearby town, where he met another group of adventurers. One of them was a librarian who finally put a name to his ability - sorcery. One thing led to another, and now Kohbal travels with a party of unusual pets, in search of experience to control his abilities, and, perhaps, to find out where his power comes from.

Kohbal is a bit short-tempered and impulsive, and has a high-strung temper and deep-seated need to prove himself, likely born from his struggle at the Academy. He simultaneously holds magical academics in high regard, and presumes they're arrogant and impossible to please. Kohbal similarly can swing sharply between extreme insecurity and his own arrogance; it doesn't take much scratching to find that the latter is a poor attempt to cover the former, but this doesn't always prevent annoyance or fights.
