Adopted from Zebra

An ancient creature steps foot onto the rocky surface of Mars, and takes in a deep breath of the thin atmosphere. She locks her six eyes onto the planet ahead: Earth. It was the only planet that creatures of her kind has not thoroughly explored. Her ancestors did a long time ago, but that was before the human race settled onto the planet. To remain at peace with these humans, her kind has vowed not to set foot onto Earth. They would simply startle the human race, and to be honest, her species was unsure of the true power of humans.

The thing was, Juwel was just so curious. A while ago, Juwel and her mother witnessed a large, white object float through space for the first time and land on what the humans called the "moon". Since then, it wasn't strange to see the humans reappear on the cratered moon. But then new objects were being sent out. Her relatives called them "robots". Some even came face-to-face with the mechanical things. They didn't know what to make of them.

Juwel continued to stare at Earth with keen eyes. She remembered when the creatures of space were able to roam freely. To be honest, she wished to explore Earth. It was the last planet that needed to be seen. But, she had to be careful not to disturb the human race. Could the humans really be that bad? Maybe just a quick look? With that, she stood up on all four legs. She finally came to a decision, and lunged towards the unknown planet.

Gracefully, Juwel lands onto a green, strange texture that was much different than the usual rock. She breathes in the air; it was a new scented atmosphere. All six of her eyes blink in unison as she takes in the scene around her. Beautiful and vibrant colors, everywhere. She became as curious as a cat as she ventured Earth, letting her cautions slip from her as she took in the sights.

She stumbles into a city, when shrieks begin to ring. It was hard to tell while they didn't wear their baggy suits, but she recognized them to be the human race. They ran away from her in fear. Now that she was an adult, she realized how much bigger she was than the tallest of humans. As they panicked, she merely watched them. So these are humans; and to think, creatures of her own kind were wary of humans? They are completely defenseless! As soon as the thought came to her, it escaped her mind, because she felt something wrap around her. She looked down, noticing that she was being tied up by ropes. She looked out at her attackers to see many men dressed in uniform suits. Men behind them held shiny weapons that were pointed right at her. And yet, Juwel did not feel frightened. She remained the gentle creature that she naturally was.

"It looks like an alien," one man said. "Wait, doesn't it look just like one of those creatures that the robots discovered on Mars just recently?" Juwel stays relaxed. "Well whatever it is, it's not putting up a fight" says a third man, "Destroying it may not be necessary." The first man steps forward and announces, "Well, what should we do with it?"

Her fate was decided. Juwel's discovery has been made international. She's the only one of her kind to be found on Earth and is being displayed at a zoo. While here, she did see even more animals of Earth; she compares to the size of an adult bear, give or take. But now, Juwel dreams of leaving Earth. Just a week ago, she had the opportunity to freely roam from one planet to the next. She had no boundaries--well, minus Earth. Today, she is trapped in a small closure; it is miserable. With each passing day, fewer and fewer people came to see her on display. The humans were growing bored with her...so she thought. Little did she know, they were actually petitioning for her to be released back to space. The humans believed that Earth was no place for a creature like her to be trapped in, especially all by herself. She needed to be free.

About a week later, Juwel was being moved from the closure to open land. Large cameras were pointed right at her as one of the zoo keepers free her of the ropes. He pats her inbetween her two dominant eyes. "You are free, girl," he says. "I'm not sure if you can understand me, but you are welcome back to Earth whenever you wish. We will let you roam freely, and promise not to trap you again." Juwel blinks, letting the words soak in. She clearly understood every word, but she was not able to speak back in their language to let them know. She takes a few more steps, mainly to feel the grass underneath her feet one last time. She then takes one huge leap back into space, leaving Earth and its inhabitants behind her.
