Be mine, be mine
Come to the rivers where the sun is shining.Drink in the day, and be mine, be mine.
Let us spend the days together for this long life,
Where your love will make each day happy and bright.
As she sang, her voice, cool and clear, echoed around the forest. It awoke and enchanted the forest's creatures, and they moved toward her, almost mesmerized by her lullaby. The beautiful Naiad, however, took no notice of their attention as she continued with her song.
Down in the valley, where the river twists,
Feel how life's melody ever persists.
Let us flow together throughout time,
Come to me, dear. Be mine, be mine.
Pairs of all animals came near the water nymph, just close enough to hear her voice echo and infect their bones. Their hearts beat faster, as her song persisted, but it was a pleasant hum. The couples settled next to each other, content with their love and with the moment that the Naiad was creating.
Here, in the calm morning light,
Our love creates such a beautiful sight...
CRACK.
An overeager rabbit had moved too suddenly. In doing so, he had broken a twig and disturbed Babs from her singing. He looked guiltily at the ground as he felt the glares of the other animals burn into him. Babs looked around at all the couples, at the way the birds nestled together and the deer rested in each others' presence.
A pang of jealousy twisted in her heart. They had what she wanted so badly. Wouldn't she ever find someone to spend her long life with?
...Without you here, I cannot truly shine.
Where are you darling? Be mine, be mine.
