Andrew Ava's twin brother looked upon the battlefield with disbelief. His men had fought well but these fort builders were not just craftsmen they were professionally trained soldiers. They were not expecting this. And also these men were not acting like soldiers. They had won the battle altho Andrew's men has gained the trenches built by the defenders to stop the progress of his men. Andrew was not coping well with the lost battle. He and his men were suddenly surrounded by quiet groups of animals large and small all armed with slingshots, knives. And some had no weapons at all. Andrews was approached by a dark Devonti, he moved quick but not as a threat. He said when he stopped in front of Andrew. "My name Jieng. I have been observing this fort for some time with my companions. These men are foreign different ways of fighting. My companions and I want to fight them now when they are not expecting any more fighting. They are now celebrating their victory with drink, gaming, eating well and there are now guards present. Let us fight unassisted." Andrew looked at Jieng. "You have nerve." Andrew was ready to give him a dressing down when he was interrupted by his man servant. Captain, I know this Jieng. My brother fought with him and told me about him. His fighting is unorthodox but he wins. Let him show you what he does. He and his companions will win this battle for you. You need him and he needs you."Andrew started at his man servant, he valued his judgment more than his own in this case. He had been so wrong. "Go ahead. We won't interfer." Jieng said "No I want you to see what we do. Come with me do not do anything but watch and stay where you are. My men will fight in a pattern. Do not move until I come to tell you it is over."Then the strangest battle Andrew had ever seen started. Jieng and Andrew went to the farthest side in direct line of the fort. They hunched over going from foliage to foliage. Jieng was very quiet listening to an owl hooting. Then Jieng said "Now". From the first trench there was a group of small animals appearing on the top of the trench throwing stones and yelling Obscene words to the fort. Then they disappeared into the trench. Men ran from the fort with haste few weapons , clothing was haphazard, no thought of tactics or keeping abreast of each other in any battle formation. Up from the trench arose about 50 small animals with sling shots and they were 100% accurate in making their shots count right in the foreheads of the advancing army. These small animals stayed within feet of the trenches. Then Jieng yelled a bersked battle cry and all the rest of the Jieng's army raised from trenches jumped out of trenches and ran straight ahead no stopping for any reason they ran straight to the fort with no regard of any obstacles jumped trenches rocks, bodies, etc and a terrible cry was heard from their throats, ancestral war cries not heard for generations. It created fear in all who heard. Jieng was ahead of them and he ran straight for the opened gate. In trees overlooking the fort were birds dive bombing all the fort inhabitants and many were pecking out eyes. Fear was contagious and the attacking army had no problem using knives to kill all fort inhabitants. Andrews had never seen this kind of warfare it was a fantastic combination of skill, surprise tactics to confuse the enemy. The animals running to their death totally threw the enemy into confusion and there was no offense, just flight. Jieng did not come back to Andrew. He disappeared into the fort and there was silence. Andrew heard strange noises, sounds of steel scraping steel. The birds returned to the trees. All the tree animals were quiet. Then in front of the fort Andrew for the first time in his life saw a young Cadogre. He knew it had to be one it was a robotic pet and it was not an endeavor. The animal stood still and if unsure. Then he heard Jieng call in a strange tone and in a very strange rhythm of syllables. The young Cadogre responded and moved forward purposely and thru the gate. Behind the Cadogre Jieng's slingers and knive throwers grouped themselves but they had no weapons. Then to his surprise all of them hunched to the ground in a submissive position. Then slowly to Andrew unbelieving eyes large Cadogres and Endeavors appeared following the young Cadogre as he came back out of the fort. The Cadogres and Endeavors were following the young Cadogre. The young Cadogre and the older animals were constantly making the tonal rhythmic noises as if they were communicating. Then the animals turned and started knocking the fort walls down. This was done with great ferociousness. Jieng's army stayed behind them going thru the fallen wounded of the previous battles. They were searching for the live and wounded. They busied themselves with the own comrades and showed no interest in the Cadogres and Endeavors. Jieng came out eventually to Andrew and motioned him to follow him, cautioning him to not look in the eyes the Cadogres and Endeavors, "We want them to realize we are not their captors. We wait for them to approach us. I can speak to them if they wish. Valdai the young Cadogre is leading them at present to tear down their prison, all gates will be demolished. Enough of the fort will be left to provide shelter for them and their feed. It is up to them if they seek our help. "Andrew and his man servant and amazed others took the non dominant positions to show respect to the Cadogres and Endeavors. They went into the fort to sort out the equipment they found, to read all the papers in the War Room. Revealing correspondence was read. Names, contact information was all there. Manuals of training Cadogres and Endeavors were found and read. There were maps of a line of forts planned to encircle the southern continent. In the forts would be Cadogres and Endeavors caged to be used to kill the humans who trained them to be killers thru mistreatment. Andrew had known about the black market involvment of acquiring Endeavors on the black market. He had not known about the breeding settlements of Endeavors and Cadogres. It appears this was too slow and the black market was involved to speed up the building up of a deadly force of killing Endeavors and Cadogres. The Endeavors and Cadogres they saw were the breeding animals who were treated kindly and who were the foundation stock. They were leary of humans didnot entirely trust them. They were used to settle down the endeavors and cadogres who were new hatchlings. Jieng with Andrew help went to the kitchens to make the feed for the endeavors and cadogres. Valdai the Cadogre had communicated to Jieng how the endeavors and cadogres were fed. In the front of the buildings the troughs were brought out and the food poured into them. Then the men disappeared and the endeavors and cadogres came to eat.The men left to go back to the home camp miles away from the fort. There they stayed and waited for Endeavors and Cadogres to come. And come they did in single file. Male, females in order of dominance. Endeavors first and then the cadogres. Valdai came last and didnot leave his position until the traveling group order was broken. Valdai came to Jieng and Andrew and said We want you to help us. We can help youJieng didnot want promotion he wanted to remain where he was. Eventually Andrew and Jiengs followers were combined. The papers were packed and sent to Subeta's Head Command. Slowly and carefully a network was established to protect Endeavors and Cadogres from exploitation. It spread thru Souchiix's Glade, Magik Forest and Ava's Neela Sanctuary to the Cosmos.
