Bridget Aggy Burton

Little Bri didn't understand what was happening. Suddenly, dad and her brother moved out. Nuno ended up being the only one capable of explaining to her that they would only see each other every fortnight's weekend, but didn't tell her why. She didn't understand it still, but nobody cared enough -or cared too much- to tell her that there are no happy endings in most marriages.

At age 7, she came to be one of the many kid with divorced parents at school, who only knew about it months later. Bridget only lived with her mother and granny (who moved in after her daughter broke up with the mechanic), and even to a kid that was hell. The girl couldn't play outside any more ("you could be kidnapped in the street!"), couldn't eat in the living room any more ("I just cleaned up the house!"), couldn't stay long in the garden ("don't soil my house with mud!"), couldn't bring friends, and it was rare for her to be allowed to stay at their place, even if their mother's tried to convince her's to.

Then, a little after her tenth birthday her father managed to gain Bridget's custody, after hearing all those stories and three years of the child's laments (three years in which he tried to have her custody, since her mother went berserk after Nuno choose his father over her).

The girl finally could act like a normal kid her age, and her brother's company helped much into making of her what she is today.
But school was always one of her weaknesses, with teacher complaining about her instability, distraction and attitude. She has told lazy, irresponsible, uninterested, until one of the teacher took her to the school psychologist's office, after understanding that there was more than laziness on her. Bridget was diagnosed with some kind of Attention Deficit Disorder. The ADD brought her father to much more expenses, this only on the medicine required to keep her "down".

The therapy recommended by the school board, though, wasn't the one her father chose. Confronted with terrible expenses because of the kid, Terry talked to a dance-instructor friend. The middle-aged woman advised him to enrol Bridget in dance, specifically, ballet, so that the girl would learn how to focus. But unlike girls her age, Bri didn't want to be a ballerina. She wanted to be a monster-truck driver, a diver, a circus attraction (yes, a circus attraction) or a boxer (too much male company and too many Silvester Stallone films). But eventually she learned to love the art.

Those drugs together with ballet, made her able to study better in her teens, choosing to make her future out of Architecture. But the expenses were many and her father already spent enough on both kids, all by himself (and a minimum aid from their mother). Bri followed her brother's role and searched town for somewhere to work, and pay her studies for herself. After many jobs, she found a steady one in a down-town, alternative club, owned by the one who would end up being her best friend, and advisor in life.

She moved out into an apartment near her job, since she used to get home around 4am and had to go either by the subway or by foot, both dangerous at that time. The young lady lives in the apartment with her friend Raquel, who was in need of someone to share the bills with.

Now working as a bartender in the 11pm-3am shift, sex-shop clerk (can't be picky with jobs during a crisis!) from 1pm to 7pm and saving enough money for paying more than three or four years in college, Bridget dedicates her free time to Rocky movies (a passion inherited of her father), old gaming platforms, all existing Zelda games in the surface of the Earth and dyeing her hair in every single colour she can come up with. She also babysits her japanese friend's children from time to time, and goes to play 5am-basketball with her boss and male co-workers, although it sometimes includes her house-mate.

Bridget may not be recognized as the sharpest crayon in the box, but there's always a smile in her face, a laugh to be shared and a shoulder to cry on. But she's a curious person, wanting to know a bit about everything, but not wanting to master one particular subject. Unless it's about Silvester Stallone or Pong.

Life finally played a trick on the redhead, teaching her to finally love herself. Tired of being a second medal, Bridget gave up on the one who could be the perfect person for her, but could hurt her immensely as well. She still regrets having done so, but something tells her it was the right thing to do. Nonetheless, only time will tell how they shall end up, or start being.

Lately Bridget found console (among other things) in a polish boy, Benjamin. It's just a pitty he has to leave so soon.
