Deep in a forest lives a creature so subtle, so malevolent, that those familiar with the forest do not dare to trespass. Not even the perimeter. Though, it is not this creature they should be afraid of - it's his little friends. Unfortunately, some unknowing visitors have learned the hard way.

Gi is quite a deformed little rodent. Yellow-stained teeth that could cut glass, breath that smells like tot, overgrown claws, matted charcoal-grey fur... That vicious little tongue and wicked ears. Is that a tint of deep algae green you see? It's no wonder he stays away from society. That hideous thing.

And Gi's little friends? Oh, they don't look too frightening. Outsiders address them as lawn gnomes. Those joyous faces and white hair don't look one bit scary. After all, what's to be wary about when they do not even budge in the first place?

Nothing is better to Gi than a little stroll throughout his lonely kingdom in the evening. At this time, no children are pestering the forest and all is quiet. Such a wonderland only lasts for some hours.

He takes his usual route tonight. At first, he scurries around on all fours and secures the perimeter. When all is safe, Gi then trots along calmly and relishes in the forest's beauty. He admires the dark tree trunks and crunchy leaves that are scattered about.

All of the creature's crabbiness is suddenly gone, and his love for nature is all that is present. Such sweet scents of iron from mud and bark from trees tickle Gi's nose.

Something catches Gi's eye's, glowing under a nearby tree stump. He turns slightly to the right, and scurries over.

He examines the tree stump carefully, ensuring it is of no harm to him. Children these days - and even the elder - can be unpredictable.

Gi takes a peek and discovers something magnificent - lawn gnomes!

"These will be perfect for guarding my mushrooms," Gi snickered and snatched the five gnomes up. He hurried off to his hollowed out tree with the lawn ornaments in one front arm, and used the other to run.

In a dash of dead leaves and mud, Gi arrives home. He looks around to make sure everything is clear and admires his lovely mushroom garden where there lives an assortment of mushrooms from brightly-colored ones, to neutral, rustic ones.

Gi loves his mushroom garden dearly, as if it were his offspring. He would go as far as to murder someone for even killing one.

Gi viciously stabs each gnome into the soft ground, encircling the garden. He steps back and smiles smugly at his work. Seconds later, he disappears into the hollowed out tree to read further on caring for mushrooms.

Night falls silent. The clock just about strikes midnight, and Gi lies fast sleep. He sleeps so deeply, that he cannot not hear the faint stirring coming from outside...

- - -

Morning comes quick for Gi, and he draggs himself outside to check on his garden.

Something strange occurred the previous night, it seemed. Gi's eyes widen at the change in his gnomes. They are lined up in front of his mushroom garden, bones freshly scattered around it.

Gi scans the ground and sees something rather alarming. It appears to be a sneaker. He grabs the tattered red shoe and sniffs it.

"What..." Gi questions the scene, and realization hits him. He looks down at the gnomes, and back at the shoe.

Another thing catches Gi's eye, and he glances at the tree above him, "Clothing?"

A sinister grin spreads across Gi's face. He clenches his fist around the shoe, and heads inside. On the way in, the rodent stops to stroke the nearest gnome.

The door of the hollow tree slowly creaks shut, and two small shadows near closer to the garden
