Look into my eyes

In the back of the tent, an eerie glow emanates from the corner. It looks like there is a large aquarium tank...one big enough for a shark or larger sea creature. You get closer and realize that there is someone lounging on smooth and wet rock in the tank. Oh a mermaid! On closer inspection you have your doubts on your first thought. The maiden strewn across the rock looks different somehow. Where you would expect scales of shimmery blues and teals, there is a dun brown tail that is smooth like skin and mottled with tan and darker browns. Her eyes are closed as if she were not real. The only way you knew that she was living is the regular rise and fall of her slender torso. She truly is a sight--her upper, more human half has rich flawless skin the color of cocoa. Her wavy hair is close cropped but somehow it still seems to float in a weightless sort of way. It is hard not to stare.

All of the sudden, she stirs. As she rises from her stony bed, she opens her eyes to see who has strayed too close to her tank. Only she has no eyes...more like glowing pearls. They are magnificent! You get closer and close to stare into those beautiful eyes. She smiles... and then...

The next thing you remember is waking up in an abandoned field and your money is gone. You can't quite remember what happened. All you can see in your head is the glow coming from the darkness.
