Community is a sitcom set at the fictional Greendale Community College. It centers around a group of students who form a study group and eventually become friends. The majority of the series takes place on campus.

Season one is when the main characters meet in Spanish 101 and form a study group. They spend the year getting to know each other and trying to pass their classes. Highlights include a debate, a tribute to the movie Goodfellas, and a paintball game that takes over the school.

Season two says goodbye to Spanish, and hello to Anthropology 101. This year the characters deal with death, conspiracy theories, and secret affairs. There is also some inner group conflict that culminates in the annual paintball game. Highlights include a zombie episode set to the music of ABBA, a claymation Christmas episode, and an episode where the characters play Dungeons & Dragons.

Season three has the study group taking Biology 101. They work together on terrariums, and a yam project that leads to an homage to Law & Order. Highlights include an episode that explores different timelines, a musical, and a documentary about a pillow fight.

Season four is the gas leak year. It's best to skip over this one.

Season five starts a year after the study group graduates. They reconvene at their old study table and find out they aren't doing so well. When they discover the school is in trouble, they form the Save Greendale Committee. One character dies, while another goes off to sail around the world.

Season six is the end of the show. New members join the Save Greendale Committee, and fix things like broken wi-fi, and a hacker that threatens the school. This year also has a road trip, a wedding, and one last paintball game. When the semester ends, most characters are finally ready to move on from Greendale.

Jeff Winger, a disgraced former lawyer who faked his law degree and must now earn one for real.

Annie Edison, a recent high school graduate overcoming addiction problems.

Shirley Bennet, a divorced mother wanting to get a degree in business.

Pierce Hawthorne, a wealthy older student who has already spent a few years at Greendale.

Troy Barnes, high school football player that lost his scholarship after he was injured.

Abed Nadir, a pop culture enthusiast whose father wants him to take over the family falafel business.

Britta Perry, an activist who dropped out of high school to follow Radiohead.

Other characters include:

Craig Pelton, the dean of the school.

Señor Chang, Spanish teacher turned student.

Alex "Starburns" Osbourne, a student with sideburns in the shape of stars.

Ian Duncan, psychology professor and one of Jeff's former clients.

Buzz Hickey, criminology professor and member of the Save Greendale Committee.

Elroy Patashnik, former virtual reality specialist who becomes the head of school's I.T. department. He also joins the Save Greendale Committee.

Frankie Dart, consultant hired to improve Greendale. She is also on the Save Greendale Committee.
