You don't look at me the same way everyone else does... Like I'm nothing more than a doll, a porcelain treasure, something to adorn with gems and jewels and ribbons. Your face is kind, and you see past the gold and silver and into something more.

I think you know more about me than I know about myself... and that frightens me.

Why do you come to stare at me?

Bombay was born the youngest of four sons in a noble family. His older sons all had claims to land, money, and the family name, but Bombay was quickly forgotten about - by everyone but his mother. For years, she had pined to have a daughter. Bombay proved to be her last child, however, and he was soon adorned in beads and gems, his hair curled and his skin scrubbed to an unnatural state of pearly white. When the family had gatherings, Bombay was placed on display for ladies to fawn over. These were the only times Bombay was allowed outside, and afterwards his mother would grow more obsessed with his apperance, trying her hardest to make sure her youngest son was a perfect daughter.

It was at one of these gatherings that Bombay first met Morning. A midnight star-gazing party, Bombay was left sitting onchair with no company other than the humming moths in the mage lights around the garden, when suddenly someone caught his eye on the other side of the rod iron fence. The stranger was staring at Bombay with curiosity before he extended a hand to the awkward teenager and asked him to come out of the garden. Never having had someone speak to him as a friend, Bombay's curiosity got the best of him, and he crawled around the fence to the stranger's side. Morning took him around the city streets, pointing out shops and plants and any number of nighttime creatures, and when he left Bombay back at the garden, he said farewell with a soft kiss on the cheek.
