Her ears were ringing, body barely rolling over to its side in the plush bedding of her own quarters. No, it wasn't her ears; it was the new clock that was sitting on the side table. She always had a hard time getting up on time and Gadget was trying to help - yet another of Gadget's gadgets that worked... blast. Arm tugged free of the thick comforter and swung out so that one of Brass's hands covered the bells on top of the clock to quiet it until she could actually shut the thing off. A deep yawn and a few long stretches that resulted in some cracks and pops through her form before she finally crawled out of that nice cozy bed.
As she was dressing she picked up the unmistakable smell of breakfast - it was always nice to have Corset traveling with them, while Gadget was a decent cook (and much better then anyone else on the ship) Corset was better. Not a skirt in that wardrobe, so pants, blouse and vest it was, hat in hand as she left her quarters to make a few rounds and check on the status of her crew. She caught the slightest movement of metal past her side along the wall and glanced over her shoulder to glimpse the small clockwork pherret as he ducked into a room, no doubt to pilfer something shiny.
Brass couldn't help but chuckle a bit, wondering what the small critter would take from Cog that morning, Gizmo seemed to like the youngin' - more then likely because Cog was the only one other then Gadget who could tolerate his thieving ways. She could hear the noise growing louder from the engine room and pushed through the door, ducking and dodging to peer through the parts of the ship's engine and catch a glimpse of her [engineer].

Background
Bridgette Alita was born the eldest of three children, two daughters and one son, to a duke and his wife. The family was nothing but normal in regards to their life style and family affairs. Duke and Lady De Soto were happily married and fairly rich, their estate having been grown from the ground up when the De Soto family staked a claim to some frontier land previously unpopulated. They established themselves and played a big part in developing the small community into lands of resources and wealth. While most of the land would provide numerous profitable natural resources, a portion was set aside for living and a small cottage over time was built into a grand manor that would be passed through the generations to the current Duke and his family.
Lady De Soto doted on her eldest daughter and loved her dearly and though the Duke was often distant from her (having had hopes that a son would be his first child) he did what he could to provide and care for her. Bridgette, seeking the approval of her father learned not only cooking and sewing, but how to work a horse and some dabbling in politics. She was learning quickly that despite her talents in these areas that society expected her to refrain from it and "keep to the house". The more she heard it the more irritated she became and the more determined she was to do something more. Her mother did what she could to support her while raising two more children after Bridgette, Georgette the middle daughter, and finally Diego, the son her father had always wanted.
The other De Soto children did was they were expected, Georgette was a perfect lady for the most part, she was very skilled with her hands and excelled in sewing and painting while Diego was the strong capable son. While the other two children attended social events with their parents, Bridgette was running around with the local men her age being wild and mischievous. Determined to put it to a stop the Duke set both of his daughters up in arranged marriages, the night he told them had resulted in crying and screaming through the household. The next few days were spent in silence except for whispers in the night between mother and her two daughters and one day when the family awoke, Bridgette and Georgette were gone along with their dowries and a bit of extra money from their mother who had blessed their runaway to save them from marriages they would not be happy in.
The duke would search for his missing daughters for two years before finally giving up. By then, the two ladies had completed vanished into the society of adventurers and pirates. Bridgette, going by Brass, worked her way through a few ships to learn about them and Georgette, who was going by Gadget was working in various shops for more money and learned about the advances in engineering and mechanics. With their combined money and skills, the girls purchased and renovated an old airship and established themselves as the best female captain and engineer in the air. Their travels would be split between adventuring and the occasional robbing and pirating, getting back at the society that had tried so desperately to keep them chained and trapped.
Recently Brass has taken on a group who hit a streak of bad luck when their own ship was stripped by bandits. As is the case with most of her crew mates, Brass was there to offer her support to the trio and give them a place to safely house not only themselves but the remains of their ship with the hopes of restoring it. While she had not initially expected their stay to be permanent, as bonds form between the new members and her faithful companions the captain finds it more and more likely to be the end result.
