His mother had been royalty from another country. He was the product of this arranged marriage, a political move that neither party was happy with. Her silk robes and long train seemed so out of place, as she had stepped out of an old painting. A halo seemed to crown her head. She had the overall appearance of a moth. She whispered to him, promising the throne if he would only follow her wise counsel. She slipped him something that had been hidden in her sleeve and bid him adieu.
