don't remind me that some days I'm the windshield
and other days i'm just a lucky bug
Art by Silver'YOU!' screeched a bright yellow Feli, peering down between the potted shrubs that decorated the windowsill she had perched upon. Below her, in the tidy expanse of the garden, was another Feli who was busily cutting away a flower with her claws. She looked up once at Daffodil, and with a wicked grin and a careless shrug, returned to what she was doing.
Daffodil looked unhappily down at the garden full of flowers, and even more unhappily at the other Feli. Finally making up her mind, she jumped down from the windowsill, almost knocking away a pot plant as she did so. But she had decided too late; Mall had succeeded in yet another venture of divesting flowers from their rightful owners, and was already disappearing over the top of the fence.
'Come back!' called Daffodil, with a note of clear desperation in her voice. She was screwing up her face as though she had smelled something particularly bad; her eyes were beginning to water and her nose was beginning to itch. She managed to climb onto the wooden fence, peering now at the garden next door, where Mall was unconcernedly continuing her exploits.
'Hey,' began Daffodil angrily, but that was all she had time to say. A colossal sneeze seized her and she fell backwards from the fence, landing in a clump of hydrangeas.
'What happened to you?' asked Sunflower, an hour later, staring at Daffodil's reddened, watery eyes, and jumping everytime Daffodil issued a series of sneezes.
'Mall happened,' replied Daffodil thickly, rubbing energetically at her eyes and nose, both of which were streaming. She glared at the hydrangeas as she spoke; so intensely it was a wonder they didn't erupt in flames from her gaze alone.
Art by TransastralEmma had always liked Felis. When she moved to Centropolis to take care of the Seedlings shop, she took Daffodil with her, intending for Daffodil to be the shop Feli.
'What if the customers don't like it?' asked her parents (they were very fond of Daffodil and their daughter, and could have tolerated losing one, but not both). Emma shrugged and said she'd heard that Joyce kept a Feli with her in the Thimble & Co. shop, and she'd never heard of anyone giving Joyce any grief. Privately, she thought that if customers DID give her any trouble over Daffodil, she'd kick the customer out. Problem solved.
Art by SatyrIt was ironic, then, that it was Daffodil who caused herself to be ousted from the shop, and not by any customer. Within weeks, Daffodil's once mild allergies to flowers became incredibly severe. Too attached to her Feli to send her all the way back to her parents at Veta Lake, Emma keeps Daffodil at home. The only thing that triggers Daffodil's allergies now is Emma's expansive garden, so Daffodil has to take care not to wander into its death-trap bowels.
Not only that, Daffodil has to contend with the dastardly thief Mall. Though Daffodil cares nought for flowers, she does care for thieves making off with her owner's possessions, and so takes the responsibility of trying to thwart Mall very seriously. Unfortunately for Daffodil, Mall remains the current victor in their ongoing feud.
