Demetrio was a quiet child; he hardly ever made a fuss about anything. He was often labeled as being "odd" by the other children in the small Tuscan town he grew up in. The only time he ever really smiled was when he helped his mother in the garden, and tended the few grape vines they had growing along the property. He loved eating his mother's homegrown vegetables; they had so much flavor. However, Demetrio's simple life changed when his brother Ilario was born.

The moment he saw Ilario, he knew he had a new lot in life. He knew that he had to watch over his little brother. As the years went by, Demetrio kept his promise. He loved playing with Ilario; he taught him all the things that older brothers should teach their younger brothers. He soon found that the only thing he loved more than gardening was listening to Ilario play his beautiful music. They spent so much time together. And as they got older, their brotherly love became something more, it grew into what they could only imagine was true love. It was difficult, but their love remained a secret from the world.

On a sunny afternoon, Demetrio was sweeping the front walkway when a large military vehicle drove up their road to their home. Demetrio was an adult now, thus it was his duty fight to for his country as the eldest son. He was hesitant, but he knew he had to go. He said farewell to his family at the docks the next morning. Demetrio could barely keep his eyes away from Ilario.

It hurt him to see his brother and true love cry. The pain hit him in the pit of his stomach, making him feel as if he would be physically ill. But he kept his tears at bay and held his head high as he stepped aboard the ship. The war was hard on Demetrio; he grew up in such a quiet and serene environment before being thrust into the chaos of war. He took every opportunity he had to write home to Ilario.

Soon enough, Demetrio found he had a knack for taking out long range targets with a rifle; perhaps it was his calm and collected nature. The military upgraded him to working as a sniper in the urban war zones. Several years after he was drafted, Demetrio gained some leave time and returned home to see his beloved. Only after tracking his parents down did he learn that they had done the unthinkable. In desperation, his father sold Ilario to the mob to spare his own life.

Demetrio had never known rage until that moment. In what felt like a second in time, Demetrio pulled his sidearm and fired one shot into his father's head. He didn't even flinch. He then put the gun's barrel to his mother's head, tears filling up his eyes. He told her to leave or he would end her life as well. He knew he had to get Ilario back somehow; he had to keep his promise.

Demetrio spent years working his way into the mob circuit, all the while avoiding his return to the war. He offered his services as a marksman to the mob in hopes of finding Ilario's location. However, he spent most of his time doing bodyguard work for the Don and other mob higher ups, not to mention the occasional hit. The only problem was that the Don was never alone long enough for Demetrio to ask him about his brother. He waited for a day when he knew the Don would be alone. He paid the doorman to let him see the Don. Demetrio explained everything to him, about his brother, his time away from home, even the part about his taking his father's life out of pure anger.

It was a good thing that the Don was an understanding man, otherwise Demetrio may have never known where his brother was being kept. Not only that, but he was kind enough to give Demetrio his old home that his father had sold to pay off debts. He left and ran to the home of Ilario's boss. He was taken to the large study where Ilario spent most of this time. And there he was, standing beside a piano. Both their hearts stopped for that moment in time. Before Demetrio could even move, Ilario was in his arms, crying out of joy. They held each other tighter than ever before.
