~The Scientist~

Dead. All of her research down the drain. Dead... The feline lay stiff and unresponsive. This was just her luck...she was sure there was something in feline DNA that could cure the recent outbreak of the virus the world has decided to refer to it as "The Reaping" or, for the religious nuts, a Purge by their Lord. It seems to have originated in the USA but is rapidly spreading throughout other countries.

The virus shreds through immune systems like tissue paper ending lives in a matter of days if the victims are lucky to survive that long... Or unlucky? It burns through the inside of the body causing severe pain. Symptoms include internal bleeding, ecchymosis, and organ failure within 24 hours in most cases. After testing testing the reactions of the strain against some different animal samples, the feline DNA had the least reaction of them all. She discovered this several weeks ago and has been obsessed with her work ever since...

Sighing, the scientist reached for her gloves and slid them on. She unlatched the cage and reached in to take the feline's temperature so she should try and gauge the time of death. "Dr. Yates!" It had taken all of 5 seconds for the scientist to turn when, with a feral shriek, the feline struck like a bolt, ripping into her glove and tearing the skin apart. Screaming, the scientist ripped her hand from the cage and slammed the door and locks into place. Yates wrapped her bloody hand in her coat fighting back tears while the man grabbed a towel and rushed towards her. They wrapped the hand up in the towel and rushed from the room hearing the wild sounds die as the door to the testing room locked in place behind...
