There’s mixed opinions on whether evil is born or made. Perhaps it’s fate. For some, however, it’s inevitable when all you love is taken from you. Sometimes all you have left is hatred and revenge.
Elga grew up in the Sacred Lands as a dutiful daughter of a senior advisor to the Caliph. Brought up on the ancient stories of the Sand Spirits, Elga had a strong moral compass full of integrity and compassion for others.
Like many Saheric people, Elga paid homage to all of the Sand Spirits, including Shinwa, of whom many worshipped in the same fashion they worshipped the Sand Spirits.
During the Vesnali Festival of 2014 a terrible rainstorm was brought on by a creature thought to bring harm to Subeta, Darkness invaded and the rains poured. The people of Subeta were at a loss on how to end the storm.
Like all Saheric people, Elga believed the Sand Spirits could end the devastating storms. Elga made her devotions to Shinwa, the Goddess of Light, at the Temple in the hope she could stop the creature, end the terrible storms and bring back the light. During her third benediction, an almighty crack of thunder sounded and a large lighting bold struck the temple and hit Elga. Flung back ten feet from the impact of the hit, blood gushed from Elga’s eyes and electricity fizzed.
Horribly disfigured, Elga stumbled out of the Temple and came face to face with a crowd of the Saheric people forming around the entrance. Shocked by her appearance, the crowd soon turned on Elga, shouting at her and shunning her. “The devils have at once entered you”, “Antichrist!”, and “Possessed by an evil sprit” were some of the chants she heard.
The closed off zealots wouldn’t listen to reason, with one elder banishing her on the spot. “Do not listen to her Words. We will not listen to your heresy, we will not follow you to the darkest. Leave. Leave now”.
With nowhere else to go, Elga was forced to travel West to the Dark Side. The isolation she felt from the torture of being forced to leave her home, her family, and her life in the Sacred lands played havoc with her mind and twisted and corrupted her soul.
Elga soon embraced the darkness and inner turmoil. She began practicing the dark arts and studying the legend of Eodue. With Elga’s dedication to the darkness, her powers grew. Elga’s hatred of the Sacred Land, its people, and the traditions soon caught the Dark Goddess’ attention. Elga didn’t take much coaxing. She was happy to do the Dark Goddess’ bidding and quickly became a fiercely loyal follower.
