gravity is working against meand gravity wants to bring me down
Marlow is completely, utterly, entirely obsessed with flying.
There's just one teeny, tiny, little problem: Jollin cannot fly.
Marlow's two friends (and his biggest supporters, he likes to think) are two other Jollin by the name of Isobelle and Jacinta. Marlow and Jacinta get on quite famously, though Isobelle once made the astute observation that it was perhaps because they were both operating on the same level of sanity. Nevertheless, whenever Isobelle and Jacinta pass by his neck of the woods, inevitably they will hear all about Marlow's latest flight plans and will attempt to offer advice. Well, mostly it is Jacinta offering advice with Isobelle giving her rather pointed looks that only best friends can understand.
'Maybe you could flap your ears on the way down', suggested Jacinta one day. 'It might work, they're so big!'
Before Isobelle was able to cut in to attempt to bring the conversation back down to a level of reality that was not rooted in a unicorn fairyland of possibilities, Marlow nodded his agreement. 'You know what, I think you're right!'
He barely heard Isobelle and Jacinta bickering behind him as he swiftly scaled the nearest tree ('Jacinta! You know that'd never work, you're crazy. So crazy.' 'Yeah well, Isobelle, I know you are but what am I?' 'Jacinta that doesn't even make any sense'), though they certainly heard the CRASH! that announced Marlow's noisy reunion with the earth.
Marlow has sustained many injuries from attempting to pursue his life's goal; his tail is crooked in two places from breaking it twice, on separate occasions. He has no fear, though, and though most Jollin like to feel all four paws firmly planted on the ground, it's as if Marlow is only happy when there's nothing but the air to support him!
