Introduction

For years civil war had destroyed everything we, the Children of Shadows, ever loved. The cruel Lenci Clan said it was destiny that would forever forbid our banding, and the Selchin Clan said history supported this. Yet my parents always told us stories of happier days, far in the past. Days when chaos was but a word with no meaning.

After my parents were lost to me I vowed to tame this chaos. I became a Dreamer, using my want for order and security to bring forth a demon from the very shadows we controlled. My followers demanded that I give myself to them, and I did. I lived for my Clan, and soon I was Lord.

I had achieved my dream of order, but after those closest to me rejected me. Said they hated what I became, hated the things I had to do to subdue the chaos. All the while, the demon was whispering in my ear...

Have I made a mistake? Would it have been better to leave the chaos untamed, free to take the lives of those around me? My future children? No.
I have no one left now, no one but the power I hold.
And I won't let anyone snatch it away.
