Penelope, or "Penel" to her friends and family, is the heir to a magical family legacy dating back to Salem. However, she isn't particularly keen on becoming the family Matriarch. She would much rather travel around and practice folk magic (Vastly inferior to real magic, she can hear her mother sneer. It's all reliant on herbs and rocks and animal parts and putting your faith in the magical capabilities things outside your self.), collecting odds and ends and experiencing different worlds and people. However, with her mother's extensive network of magical contacts, that never really seemed like an option. Most of the time, she felt that her only ally was her familiar, Mephistos--a shapeshifting grimmalkin who has taken care of her since they were both children.

That changed when she discovered a spell in one of her long-absent aunt's old notebooks. It was a spell that allowed one to cross dimensions. Outside of the Earthly plane, Penel could travel and collect herbs and learn about hundreds of different worlds without her mother being able to find her aand drag her back. All she had to do was perform the spell.

So she did.

It didn't take much to convince Mephistos to come with her, and the next thing she knew, they were both on another plane, free from her mother's influence. She doesn't expect that they'll be able to avoid her mother forever, but for now she is content to roam the different universes, learning as much as she can about the different worlds she visits with her closest friend by her side.
