Mini Bio
Ella’s parents immigrated to America from Sweden when she was very young. They’d been bakers in Sweden and had dreams of opening up their own bakery in America. After settling in Boston and working hard for several years they finally had enough money to go into business. They started small carrying mostly Swedish baked goods and catering to the small Swedish community in Boston. As the years passed their business slowly grew, word spreading to the other ethnic groups of the neighborhood and on to the upper crust of Boston society itself. Eventually it became one of the most popular bakeries in the city. The family expanded to include all kinds of baked goods to accommodate their new customers.

Ella was lucky in that her parents earned enough to allow her an American education. She was even able to graduate! All during her school years Ella worked at the bakery after school and on weekends. Now she’s a grown woman in her mid to late 20’s and she runs the place. Her parents still work there on occasion but mostly they’re fully staffed with Ella taking over where her parents left off. They even expanded to include a tea room with complete menu. That was Ella’s idea.

Her story takes place around 1900. It’s a new concept and I haven’t worked out the dates yet.

Personality:
Being an immigrant and raised on the ‘American Dream’ Ella is very, very hard working. Her first thought in everything is the bakery. How to improve it, new treats to offer, different kinds of teas and warm drinks to serve. She’s very ambitious, she’s even put thought into opening a catering company on the side and delving into the savory aspect of things.

Ella loves her job. She loves baking and cooking. It fills her with so much happiness. She’s basically a very happy and satisfied person with a heavy dose of self confidence. She also smiles a lot. She’s kind to everyone, not just her customers. What she does not sell she donates to charity or gives out to poor immigrants in the neighborhoods around her home and work. She’s pretty logical minded, not given to day dreaming and flights of fantasy. She’s very focused on her life and goals. While she and her parents have earned enough to solidly put them in the middle-class she’s able to relate and get on with the poorest of immigrants fresh off the boats as well as the rich well-to-do ladies of high society. Everyone who patrons the bakery knows and loves Ella.
