The lights dim and the ringmaster bows. As the applause begins to fade and the clatter of boots signals the crowd's dispersal from the stands, a small figure approaches you.

Did you enjoy the show, sir? Well, I'm glad! Suzanne Lila Frein, at your service. Uncle says I'm going to be a great trapeze swinger, even though I'm only twelve. It's in my blood. When my mother was young, she was the best trapeze swinger here, Uncle tells me. I want to be just like her, even though I can't remember her at all. Uncle says my parents died in a train crash when I was very young - but don't look so stricken, everyone takes good care of me here. We're like a big family!

Say, you look awfully well-dressed to be at a carnival. Are you friends with that man in the hat? Oh, I don't mean to be rude! It's just that... he comes to all of our shows here. He always looks so fancy, with a fedora and a vest and everything. That's why I thought you might know him. I just started noticing him a few weeks ago, but my best friend tells me that every time we stop here, this man shows up to watch. Kind of weird, isn't it?
