The glade seemed to scream my name. The forest held no remorse for my penalties. I quickly noticed the path at which I called my own, was no longer a path I walked alone. It seemed as if this decision wasn't based purely by my ideas, but more it is the fee, put in place to keep order in this forest. Those I once shared a life with no longer mattered. All that remained just wasn't the same.

Twitch was almost thirteen when she reached the glade. She'd finally had enough. After thirteen years of abuse she'd finally made her decision to leave. She didn't pack any bags, or even food. She just ran. The moment school got out, she was gone. Away from her parents, away from the kids at school. A place where no one could ever find her.

It was so perfect and alluring. There was nothing more peaceful. It quickly became my favorite spot, I'd come here many days alone to think. No one could ever find me here.

She reached the glade sometime that evening. She'd been here many times before, to think. To get away. She stayed here for days. Sleeping on the flower beds wrapped in an oversized leaf. The birds and grasshoppers playing perfect melodies for her, each night and each morning.

I vaguely remember pain and hunger. Fatigue. Even my heart was starting to slow. My mind a stray I became dizzy and almost ceased to exist. It was then I did the last thing I knew I could. To save my life or to take it. I was as good as dead no matter what path I took.

She drank from the forbidden pool. This was the Peka Glade. This place was created by the earth and lived to shelter beings of the woods. Some owners of pets often filled pitchers and gave it to their pets so they might be one with the earth. This was the first time any human had ever drank from the glade. What happened was something unheard of.

I soon became just as much a part of the forest as the flowers and leaves I slept on many nights before. The pain wasn't much pain at all. Instead it was like a perfect transformation. It was....Safe.

Before she could take the time to finish her sip, enough to fill her closing esophagus, she began to change. Blood began to erupt from her back as pink spun silk wings emerged. Her ragged clothes seemed to slip away now replaced by a petal skirt and top. She'd become what they referred to as a nymph. In some cases her new born identity might be captured and used as decoration.

After the transformation she became weak and lost consciousness. She awake to the gentle nudge of a rather lively flower. She gasped in surprise and fell backwards into the pool of water behind her. She attempted to move her body and kick but she couldn't swim. She only sank. At the base of the pool emitted a light. The farther she fell the stronger the light became until a voice started into her head.

It spoke to me and said 'Twitch, you are not safe here. The shelter at which we provide you does not save you from the humans that use our resources for their selfish gain. Take us into your heart and we will save you.' I started to lose my breath and I seemed to fade. The next thing I knew I was back outside the pool, however, not the same as I remember when I went in..

She awoke after the sun at risen. Looking down at her body, before her lead to golden furry paws. With shock she quickly turned to the pool, she found she'd become a feline. This creature was swift and fierce. Exactly what they promised to her for protection. When dusk fell she returned to the nymph she'd earlier become. No human would ever step foot in the glade over night......Atleast not until she did.
