Aliya comes into the world in a burst of wonder and a cacophony of cheers to an endangered race. He is the child brought by the alignment of the moons and the stars—the first in a millennium—whose entry in the world signals the coming back from the brink of extinction. His young body is worshiped and glorified because it is the only one that can save them—the only one that can create new life—and they must grasp it tightly, tie it to its fate, bind its future to theirs.

They name him Savior.
When he is still a child they take him away from his birthplace and imprison him within a glorious palace to be pampered and fawned over. They hang onto his every word, watch his every movement, fear every glint of displeasure in his eyes. His life is more important to them than theirs and even as a child he understands how strange it is that they tell him, over and over, that his survival is essential to their own, yet they sacrifice themselves to him without a thought.

They would do anything for him, he comes to realize. He tells them how funny they all are and asks if every one of them would die for him, if he wished it. They all pledge themselves to the cause like loyal dogs and it makes him feel resplendent, as if he has risen from the dead to his rightful place as their savior.
Aliya does not remember his mother because his mother is merely a symbol of the vessel that carried him into the world. The vessel cannot create life, merely deliver it. His mother is the ship that carries him across the sea stretching between the celestial plain and the physical world in obedience to the highest power.

It is difficult to describe the circumstances of his birth in the context of humankind. Aliya was born on a planet galaxies away from but not much unlike Earth to a race that is universes apart from, but not so different to humans. It is a human misconception that alien species must be complex and unique beyond comprehension; the truth is that the universe discovered the formula that makes organisms work long, long ago, and has never had the need to deviate much from it. Compare a man of the human race to his counterpart of an alien species existing millions of light years away, for example, and it becomes apparent that there are many characteristics that stay consistent between very different organisms: systems by which each organism sees, hears, communicates; self-imposed concern for survival that drives the primal instincts; unstoppable path towards decay.

But while Aliya' kind and homosapiens are quite physiologically similar, they differ in the most basic aspect: reproduction.
It goes like this: humans are designed for self-preservation, but his kind is built for self-destruction. The biological composition of humans was made for reproduction, for sustaining themselves. In the most basic sense, each individual has the means to create life. But that is not the case for his kind; individuals are born infertile, stripped of the ability to create in any meaningful sense. The population is only perpetuated through lifespans that outlast the galaxies and the whims of the universe.

The only means by which new life is brought into their world is through the children born of the gods, such as Aliya. He is the child brought by the alignment of the moons and the stars - a male - unique even within his own people.
