Her life was never good. She was always was an outcast. Completely shy, always last. She couldn’t help but take her own life…

When she died, she expected it to be eternal darkness, much like her life. It was supposed to end, there was no afterlife. But as she closed her eyes for good, she felt a prod in her stomach. She opened her eyes once more, and saw a figure over her. She couldn’t help but smile. so this is heaven

She got up slowly, because something was weighing her down. Looking at her back, she discovered she had wings. Huh She thought. The figure was still looking at her.

“Hello” said Aun slowly.
“Hi. Im Holly.”
“So, where am I?”
“Well, sometimes, pets have bad lives…” she began.
“You mean, they commit suicide?” she said conversationally.
“Yes,” said Holly cautiously.

Aun looked around, but found the clouds completely deserted except for herself and Holly.

“Why aren’t there other pets here? It’s just us. Where am I?” Aun began to panic.
“Well, we’re in Four.”
“Four? Like, the number? What is this place?” Aun’s voice got higher with every word.
“Yes, like the number,” said Holly soothingly. “This is a place for pets to talk to their old selves.”
“Talk to their old selves? What?”
“Well, when they come here, they are just as unhappy as they were when they…” her voice trailed off for a second.
“Yes, go on please,” said Aun anxiously. She was very curious as to what Holly had to say.
“Well, there aren’t pet’s here for a reason. They’re not supposed to be here. You’re going to go back,” said Holly. Then, seeing Aun’s quizzical look, she added “back in time, that is.”

Aun gasped.
“Back in time?”
“Yes. You are going back to last month. You asked before why this place is called Four?”
Aun nodded.
“You have four words to say. You will go back in time, and say four words to change your past self. No more, no less.”
Aun looked at her, wide-eyed. “I. I-“ Aun was lost for words.
Holly began to talk very fast. “And yes, you will no longer exist. That’s why there are no pets here. You will be happier, though.” “But,” said Holly warningly. “say no more, and no less, than those four words. I wish you luck, and hope never to see you again.”

Aun knew those words were meant well, but they scared her very much. She had a hundred questions to ask. She couldn’t just disappear, could she? And where would she end up?

Suddenly, she began to fade. Or was she falling? She closed her eyes preparing for the impossible. Moments later, she felt blades of spring enveloping her. She inhaled deeply, and smiled at her favorite scent- that of grass. She opened her eyes, flooding them will brilliant green. The field seemed uninhabited, except for a figure in the distance.

She knew this place. She knew the figure. This was the field of Top; her happy place. Was Aun really here? She shook her head, unable to comprehend two Auns in one place.

Aun was the only one who knew about this field, so her past self must have been confused to see another figure there. Aun suddenly had a memory of this encounter. I must be remembering this from my old self’s point of view. The idea confused her.

Sitting where she was, she saw past Aun running towards her. It was odd being in a place from two different perspectives. When past Aun reached her, she gasped. Aun realized it must be weird seeing herself without a mirror. Unfortunately, she could not give any words of reassurance, for she did not want to ruin her four words.

It was hard to concentrate. She thought of what to say in four words that would change her life. Nothing came to her. The prospect of disappearing in a few moments was not reassuring, and on top of that, past Aun had fainted, which worried her.

In a few moments, past Aun leapt to her paws and yelped. “What are you- are you, me?” said past Aun.

Instantly, she knew what she had to say. She realized her past self had already heard the four words, and she would remember them forever.

Never, ever give up,” said Aun, emphasizing every word. In a second, she vanished.

Many years later, Aun re-entered heaven, with no memory of Four, and no darkness of her past. Her life had been happy since that wondrous day in the field of Top.
