It is a good Pokémon for trainers, as it has a brave, trustworthy nature and will fearlessly stand up to bigger, stronger foes. It is extremely loyal to its trainer and will protect him or her from harm.

Growlithe has a superb sense of smell, and will not forget the scent of anything it picks up. It can even use these advanced olfactory senses to detect the emotions of others. It is often used for police work, and will remain motionless until it is given an order from its trainer.
