» Story «

and my heart is a hollow plane

- Eats raw fish.

- Can hiss.

- Meets a handsome human man who stops by the banks of her lake. He assumes she is a brave bather. Finding her intriguing, he stops to talk to her and against her better judgment, she converses with him. He surprises her by stripping and jumping in with her.

- He visits a lot, and they fall for each other. The others warn her but she doesn't pay heed. They fall for each other.

- He eventually asks for her hand in marriage one day, and she agrees. She discovers that he is the son of a powerful lord.

- She is brought to the castle in a white dress to meet the Lord and Lady. The Lady immediately dislikes Michele.

- Until the marriage, they are kept in separate quarters. Michele is found out by a servant girl who sees her tail in the bathtub. The girl tells the Lady, who is delighted at an opportunity to ruin Michele and separate the girl from her son.

- She drags Michele to the prince and her court and throws her down. Michele's trying not to cry as the Queen tells them she's a dirty liar and one of the seafolk, and she should not be allowed to interact with humans.

- The prince is hurt by this. The Queen makes Michele a slave and a curio, making her come to her parties, dressed in tight human clothing. Creepy old lords dance with her and ask her to sing for them.

- She is not allowed to leave, locked in, sleeps in a bathtub full of water.

- Without Michele knowing, the prince goes to see a witch, who says that the prince can be with the girl [in the lake] if he gives up his soul, as the seafolk do not have souls.

- He agrees, and gives up his soul. He sneaks into Michele's quarters and tells her that he will take her home, and they can be together there. He doesn't tell her how he did it. She agrees to wait for him in the courtyard that night.

Michele was born a very long time ago off the coast of what is now known as southern France.

She is a Nixie or Neck, Scandinavian water sprites who try and lure people into the water.

She has, for a while, resided in a lake in Wales. Currently, her lake is in Marchia Wallie / the Welsh Marches (Welsh lands ruled by the Marcher barons).

While fond of drowning humans, she is also very curious about them. Some of the other creatures warn her about talking to them, as they have had run-ins with ill-natured humans.
