Deep in the ice-cold heart of the arctic tundra, one may stumble upon a variety of bizarre things: lights that dance in strange, erratic ways, the cries of what surely must be banshees, monsters that rise from the ice and snow to attack unlucky travellers.

It is only natural that explorers who return from the tundra bring tales of these fantastic things. Some claim that they were led to safety by the mysterious lights. Others swear that the light tricked them into a trap which they narrowly escaped. They tell of banshees attacking younger travellers, trying to drag them into the drifts to suffocate. The Ice King, a huge anyu, is a popular subject for tales of monsters that must be fought off.

Rarely heard of is a small jollin by the name of Siberia, mainly because she does not draw attention to herself, but only to her own little "light".

Siberia has lived in the tundra for her whole long life, largely because neither she nor her body can tolerate warm weather. She does not remember how she came to be, but it is said that sprites, such as she, are born from their element, so perhaps she was sired by the snow that blankets the tundra. Perhaps the crying winds collected together enough snow and ice to form the little jollin, or perhaps one day she just emerged from a snowdrift as if coming from a cave after hibernation.

However she came to be no longer matters, as it was years and years upon years in the past.

Siberia spends much of her time with Tullio, the small soul of a jollin kit who perished in the snow after becoming lost, or was it after being abandoned? He doesn't recall, and it, like Siberia's origin, has lost significance. Together she and the soul, who appears as a vaguely jollin-shaped spark of light, guide lost explorers to safety. Siberia, who is very familiar with the landscape no matter how identical one scene looks to the next, treads on ahead, nearly invisible due to her white coat and pale markings, while Tullio follows her and leads the person to safety.

When not rescuing the lost and desperate, Siberia enjoys taking trips down to the nearest village that is within her comfort zone. There she frequents a small cafe for coffee and a pastry or other snack. The coffee is quickly cooled by her frigid body, but it usually makes her a bit uncomfortable until she returns to the tundra. However, the delicious taste is too tempting for her to be deterred by a small amount of discomfort.

Tullio, on the other hand, chooses to remain in the tundra for fear he may totally forget himself and fade away if he leaves. When he is not assisting Siberia, he often stays in a small lantern that she provided. there he may take the shape of a cold flame, a form that gives him something similar to sleep, though it is more of a suspended consciousness in which he merely ceases to be aware of himself or the world about him. When he is needed, Siberia releases him from the lantern and he is quite ready to go.

So together they live in the tundra, alone but relatively happy with the quiet life. Siberia is unbothered by most of the usual haunts of the arctic frost, though on occasion has to draw up a driving wind to deter unfriendly attention.

siberia's design

you can see her basic design here. i know it's almost impossible to see her markings. that's the point haha. arctic critters are pale in colour for a reason, it helps them blend in with the snow, which is exactly why i designed siberia like she is. she is an ice sprite and her permanent habitat is the tundra, so it makes sense.
her ears are also smaller than a regular jollin's, and her tail is larger and fluffier. she tends to have more fluff in general for extra insulation. she is very beautiful, compact and "neat" in appearance.
