Ghostly

(GHOST-lee)

There are many stories and legends that revolve around the ghostly, a pet native to the lands surrounding Shadowglen. The tales are endless, limited only to the imagination, and the truth behind any of them is yet to be completely proven. What is known is that ghostlies are not true ghosts, but more like wandering spirits.

Deep within the forests surrounding Shadowglen, there are many ancient, unused, and decaying graveyards. It is from here that these spirits are believed to emerge. At first, ghostlies are completely invisible. As they float into populated areas, they will rummage around for discarded garments, drapes, clothing, and other cloth items to don as cloaks. This makes the spirits 'come to life'- so to speak - and it is at this point they become visible to mortals. They will then - very conveniently! - place themselves in what looks like a welcoming, cozy place and make themselves quite at home. Ghostlies tend to vary in height - though 3 feet (90 cm) tends to be around average. Their height is often dependent on what type of clothing they wear, since this is what makes them visible.

Most residents of Shadowglen consider it an honor to have a ghostly pick their home as a place to live, and they will accept them with open arms. Perhaps the only pet that rivals the charlie when it comes to pranks is the ghostly. They are well-known for playing tricks, and many a good natured ghostly will temporarily take off their cloak to hide invisible in the shadows, only to pounce at the most inappropriate times!

Not all ghostlies choose to don clothing or find a home to haunt, and these ghostlies remain invisible to the human eye, drifting silently around Shadowglen and the surrounding area. Ghostlies are overall believed to be blind, due to their lack of eyes, but they seem to have no trouble getting around and manage quite well.
