It's not clear that even just one reborn zentu would be a terribly pleasant companion. They're rather prone to charging and they are quite large! Well. I think we all know the Fireside feast that this originated from. The celebrations do tend to be so… abundant, that sometimes a poor feast-bird gets brought out at just the point that everyone is completely stuffed, if you pardon the turn of phrase.

I suppose at that moment I could have taken it anyway with the intent of giving it to Luna, (she does love a little Jerky Lurkey with the bones removed), had a little bit of a coughing fit where it could have dropped from my hands and rolled into Oatmeal's enclosure where he could have kicked it into a corner in disgust where it was able to sit long enough to absorb my magic and turn into this frightening thing. I'm not saying that's exactly what happened! But one must look at all possible angles.
