Facebook Connect

Hey guys! I'm sure you've noticed that fancy Facebook Connect button we've got in our sidebar right now.

I know a lot of you don't even have facebook, or really care about connecting your accounts. If you just want to get rid of it on Subeta, there is a customCSS code that you can use. If you hate the idea of facebook spying on the sites you're using altogether, there are browser extensions for almost every browser that block it completely!

Thanks for the code but I have put it in 3 times and it just isn't working. I am not a computer genius but I think I can figure out how to copy and paste that string into the custom css. It does nothing

Thank you very much, Keith. I wish all sites were so considerate towards the users (cough LiveJournal cough) and wouldn't force Facebook - or any other third party feature - on everyone like it's as vital as oxygen.

@Keith Facebook is only there to make people look popular and for companies to spy on their and other peoples employees. It'll be gone in a year or two when the next fad comes along, unlike subeta.

I could care less about the feature. I have a facebook, but log in to complain about everything, so connecting it to web sites doesn't really matter. I will just ignore the pretty blue FB button. <img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/6398_emoticon_smile.gif" border="0" />

I can't even get the application for Subeta to connect to Facebook to even work for some weird reason. None of my friends can suggest the app to me, and when I tried to look it up using the Application Directory, no results were yielded for it. : (

I got an achievement and it didn't send to facebook and I had set it to send to facebook. :{

Thanks for the comment with this newsmessage, Keith. I was worried for a second that Subeta got too connected with facebook.

I have a facebook account but I don't connect it to any of the sites I visit on a regular basis. I leave enough traces as it is without facebook tracing me as well. It makes me feel uncomftable if every ting I do shows up on facebook.

Thanks for the links to the removal site! I installed it, and it didn't seem to work, but then I realized I could just use regular Ad Blocker Plus to block it, too.

I keep forgetting that there are ways to get rid of unwanted website content nowadays. <img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/6398_emoticon_smile.gif" border="0" />

Malabui - I'm not really sure how this could be considered "selling my soul" (or the sites soul for that matter). Facebook is an incredibly useful tool for people interested in using it.

We aren't forcing you to use it.

seems the firefox one does not work due to the extention it needs or something

Thank you Keith for helping to protect privacy. Though I would point out that since Subeta uses Google to monitor page views and site stats, it's pretty much a moot point. No offense. It's just that Google is scary with their data tracking capabilities and desires for expansion.

I say this while having them as my home page.... lol!

Keith, it might seem dumb of me, but what will it do? I ha facebook connected to my subeta a while ago for posting achievements, but I don't want to hit this connect button if it's going to post everything that I do.

Basically, is there anything different about what posts to facebook?
